Honestly, the Daedalus project site is fascinating if you're into breakdowns of MMO player demographics.

It's a few years old now but subsequent research has shown the demographic cross-sections haven't budged since then.

the majority of the games population are of the male species..I dont know why any of their reasons would be better than a girl playing.

I started playing FF11 christmas of when it came out on PC in the US but I didnt get to play much. What really got me into it was when my bro and sister were discussing parties in dunes and turtle men killing them and them being lvl 14....I got competitive and needed to make it to lvl15 and Im actually the only one of my siblings to still be playing...when Im not exhausted after school and work. Thats actually how I got into final fantasys in general. My siblings wouldnt let me play FF7 saying Id break it and ruin it..so I went and bought ff8,9,10,12, crystal chronicals, X-2, 12-2, kingdom hearts and I got the FF14 beta and the rest of the series etc etc. I won the competitive award yaaaay

I played this before my boyfriend did o.O Infact he barely plays and I still do. I think anyone can/will play any MMO whether they have someone to play it with them or not, but its nice to have someone to play it with, if you can get friends/significant others to play too that is, makes it more fun.

I was emphasizing that point because it irritates me. I by no means think all female gamer are like that.

Well personally I think most the male models that you can choose from have weird looking faces...

Female players are also older than male players, often by a substantial margin.




They're also far more likely to play MMO's with a significant other than men.

I wanted to play it from when I first saw it came out, but I never had a console or anything. When I met my husband, he played it a lot, and I'd sit and watch him play for hours. Then he got me my own content ID for my birthday and turned me loose while he was at work.

We do some things together, a lot of things we do apart. I really don't get the point of the OP or why people are always saying females use males in the game to get stuff. If you can't get your own stuff and have to use the V card to get help, then maybe you shouldn't be playing.

What about going off in tangents to distract people from the issue at hand?

Well over half the female characters that "get free stuff" in MMO's are men, and some estimates have the number upwards of 70-80%. This is due to the underlying gender demographics and the fact that 60% of male players who have ever played a female character do it to get handouts.

So I wouldn't blame the actual female players for the attention whoring. It's mostly men exploiting other gullible, desperate men.

It might be worth noting that those graphs and stats on player age and gender from the daedalus project site are like seven years out of date at the least...

Recent demographic surveys from WoW and others over the years have shown the numbers haven't budged in 7-8 years. The MMO market is generally saturated and very few "new" types of people are playing.

Now if you want to see some real sweeping demographic changes, check out the casual/social gaming scene.
