ok now if this is rly ingame and not some polished ***i'm saying wow (even if i think the resolution is too bad in theese pics to actually tell)...SE really did a good job at landscape and at the chardesign. The only thing i'm scared is the "one-ground-texture-for-the-world". Since now nearly every MMO has shitty ground textures....
The link also has some additional info about char-creation etc.. I don't want to quote everything now, but it's interesting. ;P

I've been waiting for someone to start calling Lalafell Lolifell, but someone in that BG link called them falafel... I think that one might stick <_<
Lolafell was so in my post on pg. 4 lol. but yeah falafel works too. but when i see words that funny, i always try to come with words that could be combined to make it. so for for falafel(i know its a real word though) i keep seeing flesh waffle and that just makes think mickey rourke's face. i dunno maybe the ADHD has killed off my brain cells or something.

You guys think they will make FF14 servers like WoW, JP EU and NA servers? I was thinking about that yesterday and I am really wondering...

They won't, already confirmed they're all still world-wide servers.
I don't think we have a playerbase that large to seperate by regions. Just look at FFXI: Like 2k people on a server at peak times. Take away JPs? That's about 1k. EU? About 500 NA left.
I've seen over 6k on Odin before :p Although that was both before, and why they closed it.
Also, I think FFXIV will have a wider player base this time around. I can't really be assed going into why I think that, aside from saying that they're trying to cater for a wider audience. I just hope their advertising is sufficient this time, there's a lot of gamers out there that still haven't even heard of FFXI.

They will have to grab a part of WoW players base which is really possible since a lot of people already tired with WoW I think!

Playerbase is large enough, got 30+ servers, 30*500 NA = enough to fill several servers. But yeah they confirmed that they won't, and gameplay would have to be completely different if each region would have its server. (hf with 21-24hr NM (if any) when it'll spawn at like 3AM).
I don't know, there's definitely something to be said about the way SE has gone about integrating different languages on one server--I really appreciate the way the Auto-Translate function works, even if it's a bit incomplete (something to improve on in FFXIV!). I think it's even funnier how auto-translate jokes are exclusive to FFXI players, NA and JP alike. :)
I imagine the FFXI playerbase would be much larger if it weren't so damn frustrating sometimes.
From the looks of what SE have been saying, I think XIV will be engaging enough so those who tried and failed at XIV can still accomplish something without spending 150 hours a week on it. (Exaggeration, but you get the idea.)

I think new tarus look absolutely adorable. More 'human', yet still very specific, cute and childish.
New mithras - chubby face ? Oo But doesn't seem to differ much from FFXI, same as humes and elvaans, galkas look more human too ;p

I'm kinda glad this is going to stay global... with my work and sleep schedule I'd be the only one on if it weren't for JPs and EUs... 2 am est to 8 am est ftw!
