Hey I just wanted to share this with the FFXIAH community. We have released a new project on the windower site that allows you to make your own custom soundtrack dynamically. Without the old file swapping method.

http://forums.windower.net/topic/20625-project-spoony-bard-is-out-for-download/

Update 1/22/2013: I went ahead and had some updates and fixes made to this project and now Im hosting it on here:
Spoony/Ashita Bard

The new music pack I have for this is here:
Final Fantasy New Game + Music pack

Show your support for windower and try this out.

And as always thank you for supporting windower.

Oh I'd still hang on to that program. I'll be getting a new guide up on making .Bgw files with hex editing on the number types soon.

Farewell XiMC!

This was rather annoying especially because it wouldn't convert files that were above certain bitrates etc.

I'd really love to try this but XI-Util crashes on startup regardless of "Run as Administrator"

But it loads with "Vista Service Pack 2" compatibility mode.

Yea the bitrate bug is annoying but I found a way around it.

Also yea xi-util has a crash bug. The comparability mode will fix this.

I just downloaded the vanatunes, xi-util, and the spoonybard plugin.

I loaded up Vanatunes in Windower and ran XI-Util as an admin. Loaded up Spoonybard in XI-Util. Changed the nighttime music for Windurst Waters S as a test. Saved changes, no music change. Tried zoning, still no music change.

Always on first time load or even after making changes, you must type the following in the ingame chat:
//spoony profile <name of profile>

Also forgot to note, you don't even need to load vanatunes. If you use the command mentioned above in my last post, it loads vanatunes right then.

Also try our official music pack it you want to see how everything works.

How do I add music to the library?

Also, I could be blind but I can't find Mog House in the list...

Edit: I changed the Lower Jeuno music to something random, then changed it back to the normal Jeuno music... when I went into my Mog House the music stayed as Jeuno.

You need to edit conf.xml to add any new music. Hyshio should be posting a guide on how to do all of that shortly.

Mog house isn't considered to be a separate area for the purposes of SpoonyBard, so it'll just fall under whatever music that zone normally has.

Yea due to SE changing Mog houses to sub zone to make space for the scars zones in abyssea, Mog houses will play w/e zone music you come from. There's no real way to detect this at this time.

Whoever helped put this together, you outdid yourselves.

I'll definitely be trying this out to its full potential. NM's having their own battle music? Just wow, something so simple SE fails to understand.

Thank you so much!

Now I can make NMs have Boss Battle themes, lol

In particular this one, best in FF imo:

You are most welcome. Also remember, thank Aureus too. I personally couldn't have done this without him.

Alrighty, so I've got this working but I'm still trying to figure out how to import my own songs. I'm kinda ambitious and I think I can figure it out.

I do have a suggestion, and that would be to have a smooth transition (possibly fade in/out) between night and day songs. Other than that, this is brilliant! Having no music at night or maybe some eery sounds in some zones would be a nice touch!

Okay, I've figured it out.

THIS IS HOW YOU ADD YOUR OWN CUSTOM SONGS TO XI-UTIL FOR USE WITH SPOONYBARD.

If you know how to convert WAV to BGW files (or just use Ximc for now)

Then you can put a "musicXXX.bgw" file in any music folder for FFXI, "XXX" being a number (Song ID) that isn't used by the game already.

Example music979.bgw is "FF4 Boss Battle Theme" -> Put this in C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\sound\win\music\data

Go to Program Files (x86) > XI-Util > SpoonyBard > conf.xml

Open conf.xml and paste the following on a new line along with the other song ID code:
Code
<songInfo>
    <songID>979</songID>
    <name>FF4 Boss Battle Theme</name>
  </songInfo>

Example:
Save the XML file, then restart XI-Util. When you go to select your song for zone/NM/buff/etc, it should be in the list of songs to choose from. As Hyshio said, be sure to use the command, //spoony profile (profilenamewithoutparanthesis) in your Windower console after doing this, and the changes will reflect instantly.

Fortunately, this is much better than just swapping out the music, because game updates will never overwrite "extra" files. :)

Wow that is awesome. One thing to note, you will need to hex edit the internal number you want to match the Bgw number you put in. I'd show how but I'm stuck at work posting on a phone that's about to die.

I believe if you put your desired BGW file number in the circled box before converting then Ximc can do it for you. :P

It actually worked for me without doing this, but I haven't used it enough to encounter complications yet.
