Once you have download and extracted all the files run the install file and it will created a test client folder in your in your playonline directory then access each extracted file and either copy or move then into that folder. Then start the game and let it update. I had the problem this morning where it just keep crashing and that solved it for me. readme.txt {Do you need it?}
Phoenix.Pooman said: » readme.txt {Do you need it?} The readme.txt is essentially the same thing as the OP said. Your attempt at being an *** is well noted and will be referenced at a later date. Im trying something right now that I'll check on when I get back from the gym, if it works I'll update this forum with MORE SPECIFIC details as to how I fixed it. So, even after downloading and reinstalling several times, I'm still getting JP text and only 2-3 expansions :/

If it annoys you to the point where you feel the need to be a *** with your responses then why bother helping at all?
And I got it to work via trial and error, so thanks for nothing :) Lakshmi.Alryc said: » If it annoys you to the point where you feel the need to be a *** with your responses then why bother helping at all? And I got it to work via trial and error, so thanks for nothing :) Huh? Who are you? My post wasn't directed at you, but whatever. I'm not annoyed at all. You don't have to be all angel-like about it to help someone. There's a readme.txt for a reason. A lot of the problems I have read would have easily been solved by reading it beforehand. After much playing around I finally got what they were saying about the windower workaround.. let the test pol client load up to the play buttons, when you login with windower, close the disconnected box in the pol test client first, click the FFXI button in windower and as you click it, actually close the window for pol test client via the 'X' button in the top right. As soon as you click FFXI in windower, basically in the time it takes to change screens, you should have closed the vanilla pol window. Tried it a couple of times and the play on test server came up in windower. Figured if this works for me I'd at least try to be a bit more specific about it how to do it.
Sorry I this hs been asked before... but so once I install these files, I wnt be able to use windower even for my regular server?
Nah u can, just getting windower to work with the test server is kind of a pain is all. Everything else pertaining to normal works fine.

I got it to work, shows a black area on the right side but it works :D Any way to get my controller configuration to work or am I reduced to using the keyboard again? v.v /shrug dono, as far as the big black area, u can adjust that in the tools_US folder in the test client directory
Found it! In the Tools_US folder.
I got windower working a different way, if you open both Pol and Windower at almost the same time it will show up. only problem i had was that they need to have both the same resolutions. seems more simple >.>
Hmmm... controller is not working on test server... why is that?

People in this thread are having so many problems, and I did one download, one install, and everything worked flawlessly *shrugs* Wouldn't Windower be in full screen mode if you did this? (which if helped I wouldnt want :/) Edit: Nope didn't work. Took window mode off the Test client via tool (along with the vanilla one) 1. Logged into the orginal POL 2. Got to the page where it says Play Test Server 3. Opened up windower kicked the vanilla off. 4. made vanilla go back to playonline and clicked exit viewer 5. CLicked on FFXI on windower....only shows play lol Offline

O wow seems when I tried this one it actually worked..... I X'd out the second the screen left POL to go to FFXI and when I did it, it had a slight pause for the play came up(lil longer then normal) and both popped up.... Took two tries can you have your character logged in on the test server and on the main server??
Quetzalcoatl.Seveth said: » can you have your character logged in on the test server and on the main server?? I had my doubts, since you get unlinked from your flist and the rest of POL while on the test server, but yeah, it boots you out of the test server if you try to log in while playing.

Happens when you move something after the POL update. Uninstall the test server (I deleted the entire file after) and then reinstall it with the first thing you downloaded. After that unzip the other 3 files into one location that you can access easily. After they all unzip, it will be in a folder called "ffxi". Take the contents of that folder (actually go in the folder and highlight everything) and move it to the test center folder where everything was installed, overwrite when it asks you. Go into POL, update > play the game. If you are crashing after you hit play, its becaues you moved the entire folder "ffxi" instead of actually going inside it and moving its contents. If you get a JP moogle, its because you messed with ***after the POL update. |
