I think the point here is we are trying to help you, why gimp yourself horribly when you can have a much better choice and go by a LOT faster.


I'm trying not to pull the asura card out here, but your making it terribly hard not to just say your being assheaded because your from assura.

To reply to the OP, this NM could be soloed at 75 as DRG/mage. (did as /rdm at the time)
With the way higher dps and way lower damage taken because of 15 more level, I bet it could be soloed as long as you have a way to replenish some HP. so /dnc would probably be good enough. That being said, its obvious, like others stated, that /mage jobs are faaaar better for survivability.
If you have any trouble soloing as /dnc and don't have any mage sub (shame!), you could think of using Quint Spear or Irom Ram Lance (along with PDT of course), prolonging the fight, but adding some more survivability.

Anyway, the hardest is to get passed the Ornamented Door really...

Soloing in however manner that works for a player in turn can not be ineffective.

Just because other players do not agree with this method does not make it inferior to the player using it, only to the opinions of others who live in a set standard.

Just putting this out there, evidently you have WHM leveled to 86, there's no reason for not subbing it, and I assume you have your spells caught up to at least 45, so yeah, no reason to cast it aside.

DNC: Haste Samba for 5% haste for 1.5 minutes.

WHM: Haste for 15% for 3 minutes, with additional buffs like blink, stoneskin, maybe aquaveil if you want.

DNC: Use of TP for healing yourself, with a wyvern healing breath every 60 seconds.

WHM: Use of TP for WSing due to no other use for it, casting of, let's say Dia, for an instant healing breath from the wyvern assuming you're at the proper HP amount.

Sure, you may be able to more easily have your HP topped off due to burning TP on waltzes, but this most likely won't be the case, since you'd eventually run out and your wyvern can only heal you once per minute, you'd get screwed if the battle was prolonged.

Fine, you don't have to follow our "advice", but many people are telling these things from personal experience.

So go ahead and try subbing DNC. If you lose, sub WHM. If you lose again, there's is something seriously wrong with how you're playing DRG and you ought to listen to us.

And people tell me I'm wrong when I say the quality of players in XI has gone to ***. lol.

Soloing doesn't suddenly absolve you from being a gimp though.

Your giving a specific thing that was not stated in this condition.

A player is using monk, soloing using another weapon that is not their main.

That is it, not what they were fighting, where they are at and so on.

My guess is that he doesn't understand the healing breath mechanics (hence the 33% comment when af head is easily soloable). Sometimes players, especially green players, will latch onto a particular inferior mechanic for so long they cannot admit to themselves they've been doing it wrong for so long. Back in 04 I was the "mass str and attack over haste for tp phase" drg who eyeballed numbers and NO ONE could tell me different. It happens :/

Dude, 99% of relic users in the past we're "HUUUURRRRRR DURRRRRRRR" HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. Same with most people with good hnm/salvage gear. Only difference is that the low-middle range of players suck a bit less since they can get decent gear.

if you want to sub dnc, go ahead and sub dnc and kill your nm.

but there's no reason to pretend it's not an inferior sub, and then try to argue the semantics of slang, when people have already presented good arguments as to why.
