Valkurm Dead?

Ok, so I haven't leveled a job in Valkurm in a while...I'm a 13 scholar, and it doesn't seem like ANYONE is here...been LFP all day today.

Abyssea pretty much killed traditional parties.
Better off being a key *** for abyssea or find some LS buddies willing to duo/trio with you with FoV if you wanna go old school.

I thought traditional parties died with ToAU?

*dreams back to the days when you had to fight for the camps in the dooms*

True. But by traditional I meant actually having a group camp a specific location for a specific level bracket and grind on exp mobs for hours.

Still a few Qufim parties going, FoV till 18 then jump into Qufim.

Also do pugs early, not at a stupid level like 21.

Or just solo to 30. Really not as bad as people may think.

Yes, I saw that; I meant specifics. And I've never done MMM....is that a viable option?

On my server there are some JP parties who I've done MMM from 13-26, like a small scale astral burn! Depends if people in your server do them, but set up is pretty easy. Just have a puller out of party pull the zone and some summoner kills em off, granted since you can only level like two times per MMM it takes quite a few runs to do.

Go to the SCH page on wiki and look for a solo guide, if it doesn't have one, go the the RNG page, and I know it does, I solo'd worms on RNG till like at least 35 I think.

Soloing 1-30 is a joke to me now with FoV, so that's pretty much the path you can take with any job if you know your limits. I generally have a set path I take, and have took, with a number of jobs I didn't want to wait around for parties with, or just didn't feel like waiting around for ages like I did with my dragoon oh so long ago.

Typically I'll solo 1-23 just in the starter ares and then to La Theine doing Page 3 (8 Fungars). Then I'll move onto Buburimu doing Page 1 (7 mandies, 1 rarab) till about 28, then move onto the Dunes to 33 off page 3 (5 flies, 3 crabs). That pretty much about covers it, can take a look at the Field Manual page on the Wiki if you wanna go and solo all the way to 75 like I did with some jobs, just be prepared to have the patience for it, :P

2. wait in korroloka for AF invite
3. qufim burn with PL to 30
4. start an abby party and be a key ***/leech
5. skill up in castle Z (s)

Been soloing my Dancer to lvl 25, got to 26 yesterday in a duo party. It is realy a shame infact that we are losing the tradicional party's, most of the places seem deserted.
New people that try to join now are pretty much screwed up, they don't have anyone to play with =/

Been thinking for a while and i sincerily think that Abyssea should have the minium level restricted to 70 or 75, anyone shares the same opinion?

idk.. i dont think abyssea killed the dunes.. i think fov's did.

Before abyssea even came out i decided to take all my jobs to 37..

I found it faster to solo 1~30 than wait hours for a pt to form up and half the time it end up being a failure. (and yes i soloed 16 jobs 1~30 including brd rng w/e other job you think might not be able to solo)

after lvl 30 was faster to party for me.

really hated exp in the jungle around levels 20ish.. long run to camp to find out pt sucks >.<

Yah, I loved slowly and painfully exping.

While I don't think Abyssea killed Valkurm, it certainly didn't help matters. Valkurm has always been a mixture of new players learning how to party and older players starting a new job...but now that the older players just burn each other through 30 and key *** the rest of the way, most new players(not there's many of them in the first place these days) are left to just wander around trying to solo stuff in Konschtat or La Theine until they get agroed and killed by a Gob Butcher for the 5th time and just quit.

FFXI is pretty unforgiving and ruthless on new players, and when they're stuck trying to muddle through alone, most will just walk away.

I'm in the process of leveling my lowbie jobs. Standard solo procedure. FOV all the way. I HIGHLY recommend that you look up the Field Manual in Wiki. You would be surpised at how long you can stay in areas and do pages before moving to the next zone.

Since I'm Windy, Sarutabaruta till 8ish, then Tahronghi Canyon. SCH can sub /blm and spam stone or /whm. Put your weaponskill on macro. I get book refresh, regen and reraise. Canyons till about 16 or 17ish, then Buburimu Peninsula.

If someone in the LS is leveling a Lowbie job, we duo or trio. Someone that needs to skill healing usually comes to PL us. If not, then we stick together. If someone dies, they raise and we all go back to the book to get buffs. Sure, it's slow but that's how it's done without a party.

Start own party maybe? Sure there's others having same issues as yourself.

Although, still some opinion have been raised, with a few servers peaking just under 1000, stating that still some servers seeing low pop density.

We'll just have to see later on, but there are still do many other ways to lvl, till 30. I have a few peeps that do fov, I still even do it for a few of my subs.

Any1 lvling from 37 to 50 for the pending level cap adjustment? (I've heard it was to 99 but that's pure speculation.)

Anyone going to 49-50 just in case? If you are where are you doing this? I just got to SCH45 last night and starting at 43-44 the xp is starting to get big between lvls for FoV...
