Got Albumen to 5% our first attempt. Probably could've been a win but we had a DD die at like 97%. Second attempt wasn't even close, too many Phaeosynthesis and level ups. Unreliable to dispel with melee strat aside from Troub Finale unless you bring a mixed setup to afford Focus/Languor; worth considering since you could also bring someone on Stun duty in that case. Stopped trying at 57% 'cause accuracy was almost floored with Hunters/Idris Precision/Idris Torpor/SV songs, lol.

Probably worth noting that we had a BLU sub BLM to do Elemental Seal Entomb as our Breakga tool. Works well since Entomb not only does Breakga, but also deals damage with the petrify effect being applied after the damage and thus simultaneously wakes adds up and petrifies them for the BRD to freely Relullaby after the Entomb with plenty of time.

Definitely would recommend fighting him during the daytime only. Will try again tomorrow, but during daytime!

Short test shows Mantra will not prevent Tepal Twists' HP down effect. Would've been a nice countermeasure. Oh well. I had my hopes up thinking MNK may actually have a use in endgame, lol.

Kinda prefer that fight with melee over mages, lol. BLU ES Entomb is so much better than having to count and time ES Breakga. Faster fight, too. 6:30 to down it, so didn't even need to resleep.

PLD BLU BLU GEO WHM | GEO BRD COR

Buffs used were SV Honor March/Madx2/Scherzo/Minuet, CC Hunter's Roll, Samurai Roll, Dunna Precision/Torpor, Idris Vex/Frailty. Vex/Frailty bubbles were Bolstered at the start. Attempted to Wild Card to reset Bolster and Soul Voice but failed. Inside GEO did Entrust Fury when Frailty Bolster wore off. COR also kept Dia II/Light Shotx2 on. DDs turned and PDT'd when they were hit by Tepal Twist under 25% and had hate until they were Erased and healed up. Remedies and Holy Waters for people standing near Albumen, obviously.

Excellent job, you guys. Really great to see how viable melees actually are on HELMs.

Hoping people stop complaining that this game is "mage onry" when they haven't even attempted these fights with melee in the first place, but I suppose that's a conversation for another thread.

If people didn't complain about something, would this even be FFXI anymore?

Didn't SE just update this to even be possible? Besides, mage is brain dead easy in comparison to this which requires a lot more.

52% v.s 34% between 2 blus! That's pretty massive gap.

I'm not sure if it's completely unviable pre nerf though, since they didn't use Idris for Torpor and precision, nor saboteur distract III. There are more room to get even higher acc than this.

8 people to kill Albumen is pretty light on the melee requirements, really.

In Jim's defense, he was /BLM, lol. But yeah, he has no Almace like a scrub.

I'm competing against a 119-III Almace with only my Sequence. :(

Almace is absurd. It's ridiculously difficult to compete with it.

Also, being /BLM sure wouldn't help DD.

5 minute melee Teles clear tonight. Was super fun and actually a lot easier this way.

Easier than with mages, for reals.

Nice job. I wonder how THF does on that. Darkness closer, possible piercing damage bonus, and the ability to Larceny SPs.

I'm sure it'd be one of the better DDs for the fight. I had planned on having a couple THFs for it before we started events for the night, but didn't feel like changing up the setup after our Albumen, unfortunately.

I am amazed at how well your RUN did. It seems I have been drastically underestimating Epeo as a DD tool. Your shell makes me so hyped to try melee HELMs.
