So, this site is called American News and the article is about two random professors in Australia?

That's almost as crazy as people discussing politics on a Final Fantasy website.

You know what is funny I go to a Huff Post politics to discuss FFXI !

satire OP

It's not really that hard to determine that this is pure satire.

With liberals it is hard to tell the difference between satire and what they actually believe...case in point Stephen Colbert.

He used to be funny then his schtick got old real quick.

Philosophy does have practical uses but I don't think after birth abortions were ever discussed by Sartre Nietzsche Plato Aristotle or Socrates.

I'm pretty certain there's a Monty Python sketch about this.

That's how ridiculous this has gotten.

You guys can joke all you want about Philosophy but I think it should be taught in every high school and college. Just like math Science etc.

Put it this way has math ever made you examine your life and how you live it ?

Many are aware that their medical costs can be crippling to their families / siblings (at least before ACA, and I hope to hell that law at least fixed that scenario).
Nope, now instead of adding on crippling medical costs, now they have to pay crippling premiums on top of that too.

If you've been to college and math hasn't made you examine your life and how you live it, you didn't put nearly enough thought into selecting your major.

If I were better at math, I'd be making a *** more money right now.

I knew that was coming. The difference is I don't have a TV show. I'm not paid to entertain people he is.

- Nothing. The world has always been absolutely terrible. Countless peoples through history -- Christians included -- weren't kind to children borned crippled or with otherwise obvious deficiencies. You have the privellege of judging from a time in history where we have the ability to care for these people and have them not drag down society in the same fashion.

- Nothing is being justified, you're buying the bait.

- Yes

- Apparently, look at the Republican platform on social support.

- As above.

and he's obviously successful at it.

Here's the thing: the two aren't mutually exclusive, which is why we need both STEM and arts & humanities in school.

Maybe a little less of sports that concuss children and teach them to be aggressive pieces of ***.*

*I admit this is slightly hypocritical given that I watch sports, but it is true nevertheless.

This is an entirely different discussion of what the American people find entertaining.

Survivor is still on, as I recall, or was until recently. The American public is a *** awful gauge of good entertainment.

When did I say he was bad at what he does ? I said I didn't care for his show. He was basically The Daily Show light.

If I want to hear what liberals think well we got this P and R thing...and Huff Post etc.

I found Colbert to be more entertaining as a correspondent on the Daily Show. Too much Colbert was not for me.

Back in Black (Lewis Black) was the best thing ever on the Daily Show, and I'll have words with anyone who says otherwise.

Good day, sir.

Don't worry the ABC NBC CBS fall sitcom season is coming up. Look forwards to a batch of terrible sitcoms that won't last past 4 episodes.

Funny you say that as philosophy is deeply interconnected with math. See logic.

Math is also fundamental in a very wide range of fields.

Besides a lot of philosophers are absolutely pointless to study so the subject is highly imperfect imo. It has value in highschool because at that age learning how to view things from different perspectives can help mature intellectually. But then you also need to meditate deeply to truely develop your own philosophy rather than stop at what you studied. Unfortunately most people read Nietzche last year of hs and think they discovered some hidden truth that only an elite group of people knows about.

<insert Nietzche quote on facebook and think you're the deepest person in the world>

This has nothing to do with philosophy in general and everything to do with being that age and discovering new things that blow your mind.

See: every 10 years when a new generation discovers Dark Side of the Moon.

Edit: And to clarify, this is a good thing. It's annoying as *** when you're older and have to deal with watching people do things that are hold hat to you, but it's a vital part of growing up.
