Jared Michael’s stunned reaction to what just happened sounds almost fake. But it’s no joke. Whilst trying to take a selfie next to an oncoming train, the driver—apparently irate at how recklessly close to the track Michael was standing—stuck his leg out and kicked him in the head. You can hear him shout angrily around the 0:01 mark (watch the full video here).
Missed that? The train was going pretty fast, after all. Let’s take a frame-by-frame look.
Here Michael stands, blissfully unaware of what is to come.
What was he even doing, trying to take a selfie with a train?
Note the workboot on the far right of the frame.
Brace for impact…
That’s gotta hurt.
And out come the headphones.
If anything, Jared Michael should be commended on his steady hands. His hair looks very Kim Jong-un here.

The idiot was standing, it seems, within 2 feet from the track. One wrong move and he coulda been under that train, torn to shreds or hit by something protruding out of the train.
The conductor was trying to save his life!
See that metal thing by the shoe?

the conductor very well could have caused him to be hit by the train. the conductor needs to be charged criminally and the dumbass should be charged as well.

I imagine there is a crime about trying to cross the tracks when a train is coming (or train hoping (climbing on and jumping from a moving train)), but standing too close?
The action was rather stupid, imo.

I would have kicked him too. Not for his safety for my pleasure.

The conductor was trying to save his life! ya, kicking him in the face removed all chance of him falling under the train.
hopefully it thought him a lesson tho'

Pretty sure there are signs everywhere no trespassing near train tracks.

The conductor was trying to save his life! ya, kicking him in the face removed all chance of him falling under the train. Look at the pictures and the after-video.
It pushed him away from the train.
Plus, a train can't swerve away from the kid.
Plus, Railroad tracks are private property.

Sure you can take pictures anywhere and not have to stand near an oncoming train.

not around here It's also common sense not to be an idiot and stand by *** train tracks. Especially if a train is coming.
Put yourself in the conductors shoes.
You're a conductor. You see a kid standing a foot away from the track. You know that kids are idiots and try to do stupid ***by trains but this kid is just standing there, seeming to be emotionless. Knowing your job, you know that kids also use trains to commit suicide. You have seconds to decide to either ignore him or kick him away, hoping he thinks twice before doing what he might be planning on doing.
You don't want to live with the regret if the kid killed himself and you didn't do ***to stop him.

The guy was an idiot for standing with a camera in front of him right next to a railroad with a train coming straight at him.
The conductor should not be punished for the idiocy of that guy. It was pretty obvious he was looking for a cheap attention-seeking thrill but instead had his life saved by an incoming kick to the head.

As dumb as it is, what if the conductor's foot caught him at the wrong angle and actually knocked him into the train, killing him?

As dumb as it is, what if the conductor's foot caught him at the wrong angle and actually knocked him into the train, killing him? What would you do then?
Given the short amount of time you had between seeing a guy get killed by an incoming sharp metal object across the back of the skull, would you prevent him from dying by kicking him upside the head, knowing that there is a small chance of him dying anyway from a misplaced fall.
Mind you, hindsight is 20/20.

Should have thought of that before you stand that close to a moving train...

I don't see that as a violent kick. I see it as gtfo before you die or get hurt you idiot. Type of action.

...while wearing headphones.
I'm guessing the conductor tried calling out to warn him, the kid didn't hear, and since the conductor couldn't leave the train, he did the only thing he could.

Did some quick google searches and found this:
Quote: The Post deduced that he was standing next to the train tracks of Peru Rail, which run from Cusco to Macchu Picchu.
“A lot of tourists walk the route instead of taking the train, which means the tracks are often crowded with people. The route is also very windy. Accordingly, trains go pretty slow: Peru Rail says the leg from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu takes an hour and a half, and it's only about 26 miles,” according to the Post.
“So the train that hit Michael moves at an average speed of 17 mph — way, way slower than the speeds typical of passenger trains in the U.S., and a little more than half the speed of your average flying soccer ball."
(...)
“The point here is clear,” said Miller, “the would-be ‘selfie’ artist was engaged trespassing when it appears a 'little street justice' was administered.

I've actually walked some pretty sketchy train tracks at night. I wouldn't recommend it. At some of the bridge crossing if a train comes you are screwed.

You can tell by his expression before he got hit, that his brain went out to lunch years ago.

He could have kicked the dude into the train cars behind the locomotive. Dude is an idiot for taking a selfie near tracks and nearly ended up Wile E. Cayote'd or mincemeat if he had been run over.
