You know, it astounds me that Firefly only had one season but all these reality shows never seem to die.
Also, in honor of Mr. Nimoy, I think I'm going to watch the original Star Trek series once I finish with Arrested Development.

Firefly didn't even get an entire season because Americans preferred -- if I remember correctly -- Joe-***-Millionaire. What also blows my mind is Supernatural is massively popular, but the (imo) far superior Dresden Files didn't fare nearly as well and I can only assume it's because the main characters weren't studly young 20/30-somethings. I dunno, man. I just dunno.

Cable I assume. there is still a lot of people, myself included, that dont have cable, and supernatural can be seen without it, so the coverage is wider and bigger audience. Dresden was on Sci Fi. So I guess that's fair enough.
But Firefly was on Fox. Edit: The Dresden Files was based on -- but not entirely structured in line with -- a book series by Jim Butcher. The series is phenomenal and I highly reccomend it to anyone who enjoys detective noir or fantasy. There's one great wizard in literature named Harry, and it isn't that bespectacled Potter buffoon. I dislike the Walking Dead (I felt the zombie thing was overdone before the show even started) and after I watched a handful of episodes I couldn't really get behind any of the characters in any meaningful way, either. D: Now I have both and... barely watch either one... Pretty much only use the cable to watch Walking Dead on Sunday nights, and turn on the weather in the morning. Then on Netflix I watch whatever show I'm currently on (Arrested Development right now) like once every day or two. I've had a Netflix dvd sitting on my computer desk for probably a year now lol.

But yea I think some of the outer areas need 'em but I never paid much attention to TV. As long as I have internet to watch videos/play games I'm pretty content myself. Congratulations. before you ask for more money, here, lemme cancel your show. bye" In a somewhat odd twist, Claudia Black (Morrigan, to Dragon Age fans) was also in an episode of the Dresden Files (like Firefly, it only got about half a season) and probably would have been in more, except, yeah. Cancelled. But she was a big character in Farscape, one of the SciFi Channel's bigger "successes" in the early 2000s...despite the fact that, personally, I found Farscape sort of unwatchable after a while. |
