I remember debating the issue in catholic school... Iirc heaven is a place of eternal happiness, so if you needed your dog to obtain happiness it would be there with you... but your dog doesn't "get to go to heaven" by his own volition. Even though he is probably more deserving than you are... So... like Hitler's dogs probably just died like dogs and some venerated saint's dogs that he or she needs to find absolute happiness is there.. but it's not really their dog it's an astral projection of the memory they need to achieve happiness.. so like when it was a puppy or something...
and the one priest argued that being in the presence of god was an all consuming sun shiny warm glow of a happiness that you can't possibly imagine and it's so awesome you never need anything else but to just be there basking in it.
I never really liked sunbathing myself... it seemed so... unproductive.... Not that they will start letting in diabolically evil people in any time soon or anything.
