Uh, how can you say the game is awesome when it's not even released yet...
Except the Alpha has been out for a little while now, so um..yea lol. compared to 1.0; ARR is a huge turnaround, and if any of you get into the beta I can assure you will not be disappointed lol.
gimme 1 sec and I'll edit this post with a reference to the golden saucer addition.
Edit-

According to the latest issue of Japan’s Famitsu magazine, FF14 producer Naoki Yoshida has said that he would like to add the Golden Saucer to the MMO. In the past, Yoshida has mentioned that he’d like to include many more nostalgic/fan service elements into the game.
IG: You’ve got an altered version of Final Fantasy VII’s limit break system in the game, are you including other elements from other Final Fantasy games?

NY: Yes, certainly. From Final Fantasy VI we’ve got the Magitek Armor, which will not only appear in the story but will be available as a mount for players. The end dungeon of Final Fantasy III, the Crystal Tower, will be available as an instanced raid in Final Fantasy XIV.
Also, we hope to bring the Golden Saucer casino/theme park from Final Fantasy VII into the game.
We don’t want to give everything away, so I don’t want to tell you anything else. But, yes, there will be a lot from past Final Fantasy games and we hope players will be looking forward to the additions we make as the game progresses.

People refuse to let go of there ties to FFXI and that's great, to some extent so do I, BUT you have to remember, FFXIV was never supposed to be the next FFXI. This was a point that was said ten times over by the team. Same as COD isn't ever a sequel or anything related to the next COD unless is specifies. If you are a true gamer and love a series you have to go in with an open mind or nothing will ever live up to your first. FFXIV wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst after some fixes. ARR alpha was amazing for the little bit that you could do, was a complete success imo. If you wish to play FFXI 2.0, delete your characters, go spend money on the newest PC parts you can find, reinstall, max out the graphics and play again cause that's about as good as it will get. Like I once said before, if you don't like the game or can't approach it with an open mind, don't bother playing, plain and simple.
I hope they don't get to town and everyone laughs at their 5 year old gear sets! D:
Good continuation to that ending movie though! Very pretty.
im sure theyll look at their item sets and go "Why are my stats different !?!?!" and "Whats this 'gear sets' option about?" once they realize all the new stuff they'll go "Why didnt we have this 5 years ago!?"
I did like the gear sets option. That was nice. Excepting going to have to buy multiple rings (or HQ them) for the different sets is annoying lol. At least it doesn't count as cluttering your bag up! :D

Definitely, Means i dont have to have 4 different rings in my inventory just in case i was going to switch to another job :<
I actually liked the game before it was pulled. The fighting was interesting imo. I can't wait for what's new and this trailer was epic.
Now THAT was a Mega Flare.
I actually liked the game before the Fatigue Bar got replaced by really slow auto-attacks and nonsense "special" attacks, oh, and a 900% increase in healing spell MP costs. Being able to pace your own attacks was great. You could pull ahead in hate by going a little wild, or hold back a little and let other people take it off you. You could also decide to end a fight in seconds, or pace things out for longer fights. Fights took near forever after the changes, healing yourself was impossible and a lot of other stuff was seriously wrong with it, including replacing gear people worked hard for with stuff that didnt even have half the stats without adjusting monsters as well.
FFXIV actually used to be an amazing game. Liked the setting, liked the area's, liked the story. Hated the race and job names, but still. Then they ruined it, one update at a time for the sake of "doing things diffirent".

Why buy them when you can just MAKE THEM?! And get all the HQ mats easy with the new gathering system?! >:o Not like you're limited to one maxed out crafting job. (*`-`)/~<3 Or, for an example, say you have the headband from the Alpha dungeon raid. Crit/acc/dex+. Nice for both lancer and archer. But it is rare/ex. Just unequip it from one and drop it into another gear-set. Problem solved. :o
Oh god...that brings up another slight issue..having to get some epic gear pieces TWICE from events D:
Unless they're changing it from the alpha, having a rare/ex item in one gearset still counts as having it in your inventory; despite the fact that it is not actually taking up inventory. So, you're forced to share rare/ex items between gearsets should you find that one piece works for multiple jobs.

even worse problem than before D:
That is my issue with the gear sets. You gotta unequip and put it on another job's set, which is fine. It is what it is. It just would be nice if there was a "share with gear set X" button for r/ex stuff, or rings so I wouldn't need to make 4 HQ rings of certain types.
Silly question, but have they released/updated the minimum and recommended hardware settings for ARR?
Not for the game itself, but Alpha and Beta yes
Ah I see. Looks like they did a much better job optimizing.
They recommend thus far an i5 quad core and a GTX 5--- series card and ≥ 4 GB of RAM. Assuming they don't change things too much, it shouldn't be too difficult to make myself a PC that meets the needs of ARR.
CPU is overkill but may as well grab something like that and just upgrade the GPU later if not going for the whole thing in one swoop, MMOs tend to be CPU heavy anyway.
