| [dev1045] Crafting Skill Cap Increase
The forthcoming version update will feature an increase in the crafting skill cap and a host of accompanying adjustments.
These adjustments represent the first phase in a planned overhaul of the synergy and synthesis systems, as outlined below.
The Future of Synthesis and Synergy
The respective roles of synergy and synthesis in obtaining items will be reenvisioned. Rather than a gradual shift in importance from traditional synthesis to synergy, the new vision will preserve and further develop unique roles for both forms of item crafting, with a wide variety of potent new recipes to be introduced.
The ultimate goal is to allow for equipment that offers players greater customization by armor part and situation—such as Level 75 Relic, Salvage, and Limbus armor—to be crafted and augmented through synthesis and synergy.
Characteristics of Synthesis
- Crafting impressive standalone items
- HQ synthesis will be reflected in significant attribute bonuses
- Crafting base items used in more advanced item recipes
- Chance of losing ingredients upon failure
Characteristics of Synergy
- Crafting items in mass quantities, as well as exclusive items
- HQ synergy will be reflected in increased yield for mass-production recipes
- Will specialize in adding value to items via augments, etc.
- Ingredients (with the exception of fewell) remain intact upon failure

It's about time they actually made crafts more important for synthesis items rather than just a rank for synergy again.

It's about time they actually made crafts more important for synthesis items rather than just a rank for synergy again. They were planning on making it so players could level two crafts to 100, they must of chose to go a different route instead to bring it back. /shrug

I don't get why they'd make the synergy crucible purchasable for 100gil. I mean, it'e great for people that don't have it I gurss, but the quest takes all of 10 minutes and it just seems like a pointless adjustment, lol.

I've had players ask me to craft something with synergy before, just to find out that they need to have it. I was shocked how many don't have a damn clue about the system honestly.

Glad I saved my pelican rings. If they do increase fishing, I'm getting back on my PS2! :x
I leveled to 100 that way, and I'd like to finish 110 that way as well plus I want to get on PS2 and try the rings out since I didn't get the opportunity to see what they do.

Really? how so? :o Has something to do with something complicated that I can't remember off the top of my head that forces the fish to not fight as hard.
Community Reps addressed the issue, and I think there is a fix for it in the future... but I'm not sure on that.

Having to do synergy to get random crap augments on Salvage gear would just be an ultimate slap in the face to what was once the best and hardest to obtain gear in the game.

This isn't new news, we've known about this since the level 80 cap and SE said they were going to hold out on the update until we were level 99.
Players had plenty of time to prepare and level synergy, and there is still a month to get up to the cap to prepare for it.

Yes, there is the sentimental value players have towards owning the equipment back at 75 and they don't want to toss the equipment when they spent millions of gil back then. The main issue atm is Alex, and if salvage equipment augments are worth getting and working for that means more people doing salvage to get the items to augment it.
It will be a pain for players to get the best augments, but at the same time and more importantly because you'll have to do salvage (most likely) to get the items to augment equipment you will see a huge increase in the amount of players doing salvage daily. The demand won't change, that is due to SE's lack of maintaining content and how easy it is to get gil now.
I still think prices might get slightly better now though, and if not there will be a lot of supply on servers.

The synergy crucible thing is nice, I have 3 crafting mules and I'm just way too lazy to run them to Bastok and try and do the quest at level 5. Now I can finally get stalls!

I dunno, getting sky gear and augmenting it isn't quite the same as Salvage gear. The augments would have to be ridiculously good for someone to get a group together, set times, get all 3 pieces together, get it made and then go through the horror that is augmented stats...
Maybe not, but I don't see a huge boost to either the salvage go-ers or the alex supply for this...
And as much as I'd like a fishing increase, I don't really know why they would, and if they did, what they would add? Adding tougher fish would be great, but to what benefit unless they made a NEW ultimate rod or something at whatever the new cap is? gogo Ebisu Lure?

Random Stats Approach - In order to get the best stats, you will have to repeat the process many times
- The amount of time spent and the stats received aren’t necessarily equal
- Have a possibility of getting the item in a shorter amount of time than static stat items
- There will be room to get higher stats than static stat items
Static Stats Approach - In order to get good stats, time must be spent working towards completion
- Depending on the stats, the time needed will be adjusted
- Can predict the time needed to obtain the item
- Won’t be able to add the stats of your dreams since it is static
- Will be able to store your equipment

In the case of salvage equipment and considering how long people took to make theirs I would prefer the synergy approach myself to allow for more powerful stats. If it was limited and static then it could not be as good and probably wouldn't make any difference if you had the equipment or not.

They were talking about ToM trials for ebisu not to long ago, it could be a good push for that to come out.

alex flow wont help either,because most people and their mothers are doing a mythic now.
and for sky augments,i didnt do them because they're useless.
edit: and shoulda never been brought into the game,leaving it to rot in history like af2 shoulda been
