Greetings! I have some information to pass along in regards to the merit point adjustments! We looked into both groups 1 and 2 of the merit points and decided to make the following adjustments:
 
  • Group 1
    As the first step we take, we’ll be reviewing point increases.
     

  • Group 2
    • Abilities with an increased effect from the second step on
      We have no plans for adjustments for now.
       
    • Abilities with a shorter recast time from the second step on
      We plan on adjusting these abilities so that their effects are increased with each step, instead of having their recast time shortened with each step. The recast time that has been shortened up to the fifth step will be used.
       
      The following are adjustments that do not deal with the effects of merit points.
      The below examples are for ease of reference.

      Ex 1: Devotion is raised to the fifth step
      Before: The recast time is shortened from 20 minutes to 10 minutes

      After: Increased MP recovery
      *The recast time is fixed at 10 minutes
      Ex 2: Sange is raised to the fifth step
      Before: The recast time is shortened from 15 minutes to 5 minutes

      After: Shadow images are no longer consumed
      *The recast time is fixed at 5 minutes
      *We are considering adding new shuriken

    • Other
      If the above adjustments do not solve all of the problems, we'll look into adjusting the effects themselves.


Upon further development and consideration, the adjustments may change, but for now we plan on making the above adjustments. We will let you know when we decide on the details.

Doesn't it say that they won't be modifying things like Dia 3 currently, only JAs with larger timers? IE: Feint, not Ambush.

No, it means it'll augment the reduced evasion status, but everyone who merits Feint, even stage 1, will have a 2 minute timer on it.

Which probably puts Diffusion at 10 minute recast, but what would the increased effect be? Longer duration for the buffs you share?

I see more nerf then good from this.

Things like Dia III, which has a fix rate of def down at any merit, prob means now you wouldnt get the full def down unless you cap it at 5/5.

Edit: And no, the recast will be fixed at the current lowest possible level. Merits will improve the effect.

They're only changing group 2 merits where the current modifier is recast.

It pretty specifically says they won't do this.

Hmmm... No HP and MP adjustment for every race still. Kind of ghetto to have 12k and 15K HP at 95.

From what I gather, the effects are going to increase from the current base levels (currently Sange consumes all shadows, and with their new merit system it won't consume any when maxed)

It is SE. As always, their wording isn't very clear. Sange does make it clear that it will get a boost. But,honestly, never know with them. They could think giving you the shorter recast at 1 merit while gimping the effect unless 5/5 is good.

This update could potentially change a LOT of Corsair merits.

Fold and Snake Eye would have 5 minute recast with only one merit in them.

Damn, if winning streak gives you the full 1:40 at 1/5 and 5/5 gives you something like increased effect of rolls, id have a reason to merit it.

Also, Snake Eye and fold would give 5 min timer at 1/5 but not sure how else you would really buff it at 5/5.

Edit: Nvm, Winning streak doesn't lower a recast timer, lol.

Unfortunately I don't see a composure effect itself being worth the merits still. It would have to not only match or come close to the recast of the ability, but also enhance the buffs somehow.

I'm confused about Sange, they say the 5th merit means you won't consume shadows, does that mean it's 10min reduction regardless of merits into the ability, what would the extra effect be? Possibly a 20% chance of not consuming shadows up until 100% chance with 5/5.

So for jobs I'm interested in, here are the expected new recasts:

DRG:
Deep Breathing - will be fixed at 5 minutes. My guess is that it will increase in potency as you merit it.

BLU:
Diffusion - will be fixed at 10 minute. Curious to see what they change with it.

PLD:
Fealty - will be fixed at 10 minutes. Maybe blocks even more debuffs or provides greater magic defense while active.
Chivalry - will be fixed at 10 minutes. Returns more amount of MP? Or better yet, doesn't take as much TP away when you use it.

The addendum: white/black bonus on af3+2 body is still an enigma as it is :(
