For some reason, I don't seem to dish out enough damage when using Ascetic's fury. This is what I weapon skill in currently and was wondering why the damage output is not that great.

I average around 1.5k-2.5k, if I hit anything higher, it must be out off pure luck.

I have a Light Belt, which is meant to be used for Ascetic's fury, however I don't see a change in my damage at all.

Which atmas you use?
My personal choices are RR GH Apoc or RR SS Apoc. Some ppl do VV RR SS too.
I hit often over 5k spiked @ 7.3k on Anshekreh.
But i use cyclas melees hands, and i have black belt. I noticed a difference between tantra's hands and cycla's ones.

I also use Apoc/RR/GH, I've tried various different atma's, most of the time it's the same output though.

As for the relic hands, I'll macro them in a see if they make a difference.

The sheer fact that I don't have a WS set, I know the modifier for Ascetic's is STR/VIT, I just don't know what I should be aiming to get for a good WS set other than what I currently have.

well the belt only increases fTP multiplier by 0.1. with that you won't really see a very very big increase.
Problem is: if you don't play mnk a lot it's maybe not worth putting so much time in this ws.
My Average Ascetic's varies greatly if DA or even TA procs. Given that the Ws itself is not that hard hitting i'd say there is not that much you can do to increase your overall damage. Maybe Anwig Salade with WS acc and ws dmg augment.

edit: have af1 hands? macro in for boost everytime before ws. that should bring some dmg more. not a lot but some.

Sorry but this just looks like a tp set.

Augmented shura kabuto/+1 with 2/3% ws dmg.

Ele neck/belt

Augmented shura legs, byakkos haidate with max crit dmg, usuksane legs or hachiryu legs are all large improvements.

Heafoc mittens

Heafoc or at least Alky's hands, +2 your head if you can for +7 STR. Even as a part time monk, you can probably work those things in. Gorget too, esp if you can use on other jobs.

That's a bad ws setup.

Looks to me like it's tp from af3 head being haste and all. Even if it's your tp set you need fuma sune-ate on there or something to close that haste up.

Aias Bonnet
Ire Torque/+1/elemental gorget
Waist is probably okay, elemental waist wouldn't hurt though
I'd probably ditch Kemas, although fury has a vit mod i'd go with + 7 att from the other earring, idr the name.
Heafoc mitts. (dex doesn't hurt that much)
I use shura legs
If acc capped, which it should be in abyssea Thew bomblet > af acc.

Also, i generally hit 3k~ lows of 1.5kish and highs of 7k using SS/RR/Apoc (I'm usually /ninja on mnk)
If /war use GH in place of SS for extra counter = more DoT

I'm working on getting a T3 now so I can get these hands, I always thought them hands were mainly used if you had Victory Smite, since the only modifier is STR.

50% STR mod.

That too. In general with WS' such as Fury where the secondary mod isn't a dd stat like str/dex it's generally not as potent as STR even 1:1 because STR does other things such as closing the fSTR gap, adds attack and etc.

Not to mention secondary modifiers, although only example i can think of off hand is Steel Cyclone with secondary VIT? idr

Edit: when i say secondary modifier i mean secondary modifier that's not a 1:1 ratio to the primary.

Also, work on a black belt if you can, not only is it wonderful, funky and makes you look like you actually give a damn about the job, it has PDT, lotsa STR and means you can cap haste w/o using haste feets. Which means you can use +2 feet w/o hurting haste build.

Edit: just noticed everyone seems to be using taurine. I use the knock off relic one from Itza for the additional base dmg and it works fine for me.

I think a +2% ws dmg +2% crit hit dmg anwig would be better than genbu's (though you could swap the crit hit augment for ws acc for versatility). Also Hachiryu haidate might be better than usukane though I doubt the gains would be much greater. Ascetic's IMO is an abyssea only WS* and the stats from cruor buffs give plenty as is.

* I've seen numbers from VW mobs, dunno how practical it is (and I figure MNKs fighting VW mobs prolly have smite anyway)

Anwig Salade is user specific, meaning he probably has a more efficient use from it. And WS mods don't cap, so yes Hachiryu would be better, there is no might be.

oops, yeah. And hachi is also the best for smite too. Expensive though :(

Would alcide's subligar +1 (+4 STR +8 attack) be acceptable if I didn't have/want to get usu?
