Merit Point Group 3 Merits and New 2-Hours

Hello.

Previously, we stated that we are developing something to the effect of “merit point category 3,” and we have an update to share with you all. (As stated in the previous post, this is in an early stage of development)

“Merit Point Category 3” is intended to strengthen two-hour abilities and we are also working toward adding new two-hour abilities (*)

    *What are new two-hour abilities?
  • We are planning to implement them to the test server in March 2012.
    Please look here for a more detailed implementation schedule.

  • The new two-hour abilities are scheduled to have completely different effects, rather than enhanced current two-hour ability effects.

  • The new two-hour abilities will share the same recast timer with current two-hour abilities and we want players to choose them based on the situation.


Here is a revised order of test server implementation:

  1. Raise the level cap to 99

  2. Raise the maximum limit for merit points

  3. Adjust merit points groups 1 and 2

  4. Add new two-hour abilities

  5. Add merit points group 3


We will let you know once we finalize all of the details.

I just wanted to follow-up with a bit more information related to two-hour abilities.

I believe I mentioned in individual job threads that we would be looking into the revamps of two-hour abilities for some jobs. With that said, we are in fact looking into making adjustments to currently existing two-hour abilities before we implement the new two-hour abilities.

Please just keep in mind that it will be a bit in the future before either of these things are done, so based on this please continue to give us your feedback.

Heya everyone! We were able to get more information from the dev. team about the merit point cap increase.

We are looking into the below three types of merit point cap increases:
1. Increase the amount of merit points you can have at a given time (current is 20)
2. Increase the category caps (HP/MP to 12, etc.)
3. Increase other item caps (Enmity + to 5, etc.)

Hopefully this answers some of your questions. We'll keep you posted when we receive more information. ^_^

That is what it sounded like to me. Two 2-hours that have different effects, but share recast. That way they "can be selected depending on the situation."

First 1 hour is obtained when you unlock the job, but would 2nd 2 hour only be available when you reach level 99

From what it's saying in the first paragraph there, I'd assume the 2nd 2 hour is unlockable with the Group 3 Merit point system, as well as possibly being able to augment current 2 hours? Maybe anyway.

If you can use merits to make your 2 hours more powerful...

Benediction
  • Refill MP along with HP for all members

  • Give a stoneskin buff a little stronger than afflatus solace OR even an Magma Hoplon like buff after you use it

  • Can't think of any others...


What could be 2-hour worthy as a 2nd 2-hour...

max elemental resistance for 30-60 sec? Complete immunity for all members? Going way past what is acceptable for a whm to do but I'm not sure what could be a 2nd 2 hour. Maybe a divine seal effect for 30-60 seconds?

THF - Some sort of improved Steal. Perhaps steals an item from the mob's normal loot pool (without actually removing it from the drops).

RNG - Ranged attacks generate no enmity for some duration of time.

WAR - Increased critical hit damage for some duration.

WHM - Grants all party members -50% damage taken for some duration

MNK -

BLM - Grants access to certain powerful spells for some duration (similar to SCH's new 2hour spells)

RDM - Grants access to highest tier enfeebles for some duration

PLD - Caps paladin's enmity and locks enmity on PLD for a large duration

DRK -

BST -

BRD - Allows 1 extra song to be played (daurdabla effect)

Cosmic Elucidation
  • You gain two new weapon skills in your WS list:

    • Oisoya
    • Amatsu: Tsukikage

  • Once you use the 2 hour you gain the level 99 version of Tenzen's weapon and bow for 30 seconds resetting your TP since changing weapons and your timers on everything reset (to prevent cheating and making the two ws's right away). You don't have to do the two weaponskills (Oisoya > Amatsu: Tsukikage) one after another just both within the 30 second timer and can't be interrupted by other players using their weaponskills between yours. If you manage to do the two weaponskills within 30 seconds you produce the level 4 skillchain Cosmic Elucidation.

  • What it would do as a player version I'm not sure, some math wiz would be able to figure out an appropriate damage and variables for this (higher than what light and dark can produce of course.



Also before you say that they would never do that I kinda agree EXCEPT it was a request a few months ago and they said that it was an interesting idea and would look into it. So it's possible but not very likely.
