I believe I'm on a Square-enix account, registered it back when it first came out iirc, Do I have to set up one again or something?

All the FF accounts are on PoL to start even if you linked with a secutity token you still need to log into your SE account and agree to the transfer and set up for future payemnts

They will no longer be doing billing through PoL so if they can't bill you your account will automaticly be cancled.

I think you have the wrong impression of what happens when your account is deactivated. It isn't deleted you simply can't play till you pay for it again.

Log in still happens the same way as far as I can tell. It is mostly just the payment method that is getting changed up I think.

The linking has nothing to do with this, the account transfer is compleatly seprate and still needs to be done linked or not.

It might be annoying for some people but I would enjoy having shorter log in times since my laptop has an issue with crashing the game after zoning.

I think everyone wanted that. Sure, POL was interesting to look around in and chat to your friends during maintenance but after so long people just don't care and don't use the services anymore.

Off topic maybe, but just had a thought. For those that use Windower, would cutting out POL make it impossible for Windower users to well.. use Windower? Doesnt it hook into POL on boot up?

Potentially yes, however, we will still be logging in with the POL viewer after the switch. At least for the time being. We'll just be paying through SE rather than POL.
