Every year, Lake Superior State University releases a list of over-used "pop culture" buzzwords that have become so overused and clichéd, that they need to be banished from the vernacular.

People love using this outside FFXI. It's fine in FFXI because it's just easier to type and helps people of different languages understand it.

Proc has been around for a long long time before abyssea...I don't see anything wrong with its use and/or overuse as it is simply the commonly understood term for the occurrence of some effect in the game.
