I've tried restarting the update a billion times already, I figured it was time to see if anyone else had the same problem and if there's a fix for it.
My problem is that my update keeps getting stuck on 12.dat from the ROM\259 folder. It gets stuck at 56% everytime. I sent tech support an e-mail a couple of hours ago with no response.
Anyone got any suggestions?

In this time frame, it is server congestion in all probability.
Just needs time and patience for now; otherwise you can look for someone who wrapped up the update in a .rar file for ya online.
That's how I skipped the ridiculous 6 hour download/install rate from a fresh installation.

Yeah, I've been searching the different sites for one.
Seems like people think that since this is a smaller update that it's not worth the time or effort.
Maybe one will pop up, I'll be sure to link it here if I find one.

I'm putting the .RAR together now.

It's a "pre-update update". Makes it so the main update coming up soon won't be as big.

It looks like it was mostly image dats for gear and spells and some zone maps/npcs. Actual stats and names etc probably wont come till the update that they impliment that.

Sometimes when updating FFXI and using the windower hook, POL throws a fit while updating and crashes. I guess it just doesn't play well with outside data while updating/installing.

Yeah, sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's not. I used to download it on Windower thinking it was fine, then I had a problem, and that was the problem. It can do terribad things to your files if you're unlucky. It's safer just to do it on POL all the time and avoid any potential issues.

Well I guess I'll start DLing in good ol' fashion POL from now on
I included a file I shouldn't have (one of the root files), so it can't tell the version. Doing a complete file check. I'll fix that and reupload it.
Also another way to get the update (may not work) is to do the file check before signing into your account. You might have to delete a file in order to do this properly, I don't really remember.
You should also run a file check after installing Krizz's fixed upload to make sure it all works. It should though even without.

I'm about to reupload another version. This one will extract easier, and only include the 2 root files (instead of the others that cause a full version check).

I'm 100% sure that the form I filled out on the website asked me which product I was having trouble with (FFXI in this case). Not only that, but the guide would insult the intelligence of most PC gamers.
I know they are making enough money to provide a quality support staff for this game... wtf?
