Try restarting your router/modem if you haven't.

I am in NY and having the same issue as well. The problem seems to be with Time Warner's DNS. I found a temp solution that has gotten me back online. You just need to change your primary DNS.

I can affirm that Time Warner Cable is not connecting to PoL or the website.

Though:
http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/

Lists it as having connection problems also.

I have been trying to log on since this morning. I just got off the phone with Square Enix which said NY is having a wide spread problem and since they just opened they will try to work on the issue. I was informed to just keep trying every hour until I can log on. That phone call was obviously very helpful >.>

Change your IPV4 TCP/IP from obtain automatic to DNS Primary to 8.8.8.8 and your Alternate to 8.8.4.4 in the meantime. Disable your adapter and reenable it and you should be good.

Its google's public DNS server. Its a very good work around and they have put in a ticket on this issue

This just worked for me.
