Sadly it's part of keeping prices low. If there were no under-cutters, prices would slowly but steadily rise. It is frustrating for many crafters, however, you must realize you are still making a profit and so are they (potentially). If it bothers you so much that you cannot stand it, find the point where there is 0 profit and start selling items for that price, see how long those people continue to craft an item that has 0 profit. Then the market is all yours... for a short period.

Also, proofreading your document while you are typing, or after, will help people take you a bit more seriously.

If I do a KSNM and get an O ingot, and there is 22 O ingots on the AH, you bet your *** I'm going to undercut. You lose just about money in repeated returned AH fees and keep putting it back up, but get the money x10 as fast.

LOL can you really take this post seriously at all? its stupid *** drivel. I wonder when these posts will stop...

probably never, since the people who start these posts obviously dont understand economics.

I dont claim to know everything there is to know about the economy, but I do know undercutting is a necessary part of the free market economy we enjoy in-game. Without undercutters, prices would just continue to rise on all items... to a point where things would be so inflated that no one could afford anything... and then the entire economy would likely crash to zero or something crazy like that.

We couldnt have the auction house system as it is today without the concept of a free market economy. Unless SE decides to re-write the code and turn Vana'diel into a Socialist society... then I think the undercutters are here to stay.

Seriously though... just *** get over it. Free Market is how the new world runs... both inside and outside of FFXI. If you cant come to terms with it... you will be lost.

Jesyfut.. That sounds cool, ( As I wrote that at 3:30 a.m Yes I could and should have been more careful with my grammar lol..)

I guess it just takes time to find out when to put stuff on AH and when to undercut.

To all of you , this was just a vent. I mean ppl say its RMT's fault, why we undercut them to rid them off the game.. but like I said I felt the need to vent, and get my word out.

Sovereign.. You made no necessary point to me.. but saying GET OVER IT...and stop your whining... I bet you have had your .02 cents at one time, and some Jack off P'O'd u off... So in return.. I do know how the market works... but like I said.. I just felt the need to vent... oh BTW... ( Insert middle finger here).. friendly advice can come in droves..negativity spawns negativity...

Actually, I thought I made a very compelling argument for the absolute necessity of undercutting in a free market economy. So either you didnt understand what I wrote, or you were too pissed off that I called you a dumbass to comprehend it. I'd say it was probably both.

Obviously, you dont understand how the market works or you wouldnt have bothered to make this post. People that actually understand economics and the necessity of undercutting dont *** and complain about it, they just know that's how it is.

If I have eight or more beetle shells and there's already 14 on the AH in Windurst, I'm going to be waiting a while for mine to sell if I price at the going rate. But if I put them up for 450 instead of 500, mine will sell before someone else's. Maybe I'll lose 10% and maybe I won't. But I can turn around and put more up on the auction house and get those sold too while everyone else is still waiting.

The most compelling arguement I've heard for undercutting is "the point is that yours are selling and theirs aren't." Lately it seems like I constantly have a backup on items I need to put into my AH. I'm running out of space, and it's a decision between NPCing items or undercutting to move the volume I have. Which would you choose?

So like, I would like to point out that at least in a few cases, ffxi players don't understand supply and demand. At least on asura, a few weeks after they halved the price of limbus, people were shouting to buy ABCs for 6k each, and there were so many people wanting them it drove the demand back up. But uh, a lot of the people trying to sell them in Rolanberry decided to sell them for 12k each >_>;. I mean I could be wrong and there's a market for that, but I wouldn't buy them, none of my friends that I've talked to would buy them, and none of the random people that I've ever asked about the ABCs would buy them. Also there's this dude that's been sitting in rolanberry for like a year, literally, with a bunch of items selling at around 10 times ah price. *caugh*
(he hasn't sold anything in a year if anyone was wondering)

Undercutting is the basis of a healthy supply/demand economy. I heartily encourage it in all forms. Without undercutting, relic weapons would still cost 3.8 billion gil (no exaggeration), NQ hauburgeons would be 13M, Kirin Osodes would be 80M, etc. All like it was the last time I played regularly.

But seriously guys, this is like the 17th thread on this topic in just the past couple months.

I'm not going to Play into your hands Frysia or anyone who loves to see someone complain or Rant.. However Leesil and Jesyvut made valid input to my arguement... however not on Soveriegn and Frysia's IMO's.. I had to undercut B/c everyone else was..

My point that I was getting frusterated was b/c I threw up 2 woodsman rings when there was 0 in AH, and all of a sudden WHAM 6 went up and the guy undercutted at 9k so x2 rings thats 18K

I knew you were waiting for me to reply..but like I said 2 ppl made most valuable points, and 2 ppl wanted to come in and shoot their complaint's about my Argumentive role near AH..

There are ppl who offer good advice, and then there are insensitive *** who have nothing better to do then to lurk on a forum and look to weed out one person who is complaining...

GOD you got a nerve...

Thanks for the valuable Input Leesil and Jesyput You 2 have offered valuable about Supply and Demand.. excluding Frysia and Soveriegn... Like I said I'm not paying anymore attention as this thread slowly drifts off...

If you're going to undercut, post it at awkward prices. 50,000 dont post for 45,000. Do something like 48,511. If I'm the only one posting an item, I set it high, buy it myself to show that its 10-20-100k higher then it was, and then post it at that price again. This will slowly drive the price up to what it should be worth. If you're worried about AH fees then LOL. Check Jester's capes on Alexander (among other items). Or better yet, if you need to leave a game, get on a forum to vent about the said game, I think its time to get laid. Instead of buying gil buy a hooker.

No-one likes being undercut, I bought a brynie for 300k and it was the last one in stock, a week later after beating maat i go to resell it to find 6 in stock going for 290k, i put mine up for 290k and it was returned to me 3 times before i finnaly got pissed and put it up for a 100k loss on purchase lol thankfully sumone bought it for 250k but still i buy things for as cheap as people are willing to sell so i cant complain.

It's just how the game works, deflation is a nessasary part of economics to keep things affordable for the money people can make. With-out undercutting, as mentioned above, prices would continue to rise and the gap between rich and poor in-game would get bigger.

I feel your frustration ive been thought it too and i ranted at my friends at the time lol But we all get Seers gear 10k+ cheaper or SHs a good few mil cheaper than a few years back thanks to undercutting so we just have to put up with it lol
