Hey everyone, HapaMuffin here.
I shared an early look at MuffinMetrics [ last year], and today, October 1, I finally get to share the tools with you.
[ Try MuffinMetrics here]
Here’s what you can use at launch:
- Full Combat: Build a scenario with your job, race, equipment, TP, food, buffs, target debuffs, and monster stats.
- Compare: View two equipment sets side by side, including stat changes and defensive tradeoffs.
- Optimize: Search for stronger sets based on your fight and weaponskill settings.
- Skillchain Calculator: Explore weaponskill properties and plan multistep skillchains.
- Trackers and references: JSE gear and ultimate weapon trackers with crafting requirements, FFXI timers, and cheat sheets for BRD, COR, GEO, and Sortie.
Some of you might know me from my older [ Ultimate Weapon Checklist] or [ JSE Tracker]. This project comes from that same desire to make useful things for other FFXI players.
My original post had some big claims, and there were questions and skepticism about what I was building. I understand wanting something you can actually try. I’d love for you to take a look and tell me what works, what doesn’t, and what needs improving.
The goal isn’t to replace the sims, spreadsheets, or tools you already use. I appreciate the work behind them and hope MuffinMetrics can be useful alongside them.
I love FFXI. Being disabled limits a lot of what I can do day to day, and working on this gives me something meaningful to focus on and share with a community I care about.
Feedback and issue reports are welcome:
Email support@hapamuffinstudio.com, or [ join my Discord] and post in the Reporting issue forums in the FFXI and MuffinMetrics area. The invite assigns the relevant role.
Please include as much information as possible so I can reproduce the same issue: gear sets, settings, buffs/debuffs, what you were clicking, what happened, what you expected, and any screenshots you have.
Thanks for giving it a shot. I’m excited to finally share it with you.

unable to find OK, or accept to load it, only have 2 close buttons, both discard the choices from Ambu cape
Edit:
also unable to get Marcato to apply to Honor March

Getting the popcorn ready.

Nice work.
I found some slight errors like Change is best for Diaster but overall its very well made. Did I miss the TP set optimizer?

I see the issue, you have not yet selected a cape job on the top. I will change the default to - Choose a cape- rather than it showing WAR and waiting for a selection.
If you press Marcato first, and then select Honor March you should see the appropriate change in the Magic Haste total. with a +0 song it will change from 12.3% to 18.45%. I do see that the small preview is showing it as N/A though. So this is a visual issue, the numbers are still calculating correctly.

Not yet in. That is on my list. TP/Haste/delay/store tp calculations for hits until 1k

Press "Web View" addressed your concern from that post already. :)

i did see the web view, i'm more commenting on the fact that it is the default view

From a UX point of view, that should be the default, not this. But I work with this sort of thing so maybe I'm just nitpicking. UX is key if you want people to use your website and there are several areas that need some work in that department (so does this website for that matter).
Edit: Pressed the web view, and agree this should be the default (web view that is), but holymoly this enforces my suspisions you just asked GPT or Claude to make the website for you.

I don't care about this, that, or the other, but this drives me nuts: "Build the fight. Inspect every number."

Is the source code available for how the combat simulations are calculated?

It runs in your browser, so the calculation javascript is inspectable.
In Full Combat, there is a "Show the Math" button after you run the numbers and it breaks everything down pretty detailed.
I'm not publishing a full repo at this stage, but I am happy to discuss specific formulas or investigate discrepancies with examples.

Patch 1.1 for MuffinMetrics dropped today. Patch notes are available in setting on MM.
Pretty sure I addressed all the issues brought up so far.

This is very cool, 1 suggestion so far. I put in Kaja Scythe and Catastrophe then went to the combat "overview" and under "weapon damage" you list:
Base Weapon DMG 344
Weapon Level 119
fSTR -8
Base per hit (DMG + WSC + fSTR) 486
But WSC isn't in that section. You need to to the WSC tab to see that it is 150 and make sense of the equation. I feel like Weapon level isn't important information there since you have fSTR and that is what is actually going in the equation listed.
This format seems more intuitive.

An option to select what gear the optimiser is searching for would be useful for optimising within what we as players consider reasonable to obtain. (Example: I don't have Nyame R30/Cornelia's ring, so I'd like to know what is optimal within these constraints)
Also, being able to change the gear in the optimiser afterwards to quickly compare the difference between switching individual pieces of gear. (Example: Optimiser outputs Reforged Flametongue as best for Savage blade, I'd like to swap in Naegling and hit a button that tells me the average WS with only this swap)
I would suggest taking a look at Kastra's tool, as these are both features I consider mandatory for testing sets. Obviously I'm not saying to copy his, I am just pointing out features which I think are necessary for such optimisation tools.

For sure, how about being able to lock a gear slot as well?
Working on an addon that will let you be able to select from just the gear you have. So that should help for that limiting of items as well. Thanks for the feedback!

Are you able to give any screenshots or give me more information exactly what you were doing? I would like to reproduce this and correct whatever the issue is.

Thanks for taking the time to report. I have been unable to replicate the first post you had posted, but I am actively trying to figure out what issues you may be having.
Could you tell me your browser/version and operating system, which songs and rolls were selected, the Roll+ and Job Bonus settings, and the exact click order? Was Crooked Cards clicked before or after selecting a roll?
Does it also happen with no songs selected, and in a private/incognito window?
If possible, open developer tools (F12), select Console, reproduce it, and send the red error message and expanded stack trace.

I found the issue.
Your screenshot actually helped a lot!
I reproduced this on the live Optimize page and found the cause. Clicking Crooked Cards can scroll the entire buff window’s contents out of view, making it appear blank.
It’s a UI bug on my end, not a problem with your PC. The cause is identified, but it hasn’t been fixed on the live site yet.
It will be fixed in the next update I roll out!
Thanks for helping me track it down!
