This is what it looks like in full resolution (3440x1440) on full-screen.

This is at resolution of 1720x1440. This is MUCH better.

Any idea how I can get the names more like the bottom screenshot?

Character name stretching
So I've been wondering if there's a way to reduce the size of the names hovering above characters, or at least reduce the stretching effect. My monitor resolution is 3440x1440, and I've tried changing the aspect ratio with the config plugin, but that has no effect on the character names.

You might find the information you need for the Windower plugin in this thread: https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/53399/background-aspect-ratio/ You can do it in the registry if you are playing vanilla.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PlayOnline\SQUARE\FinalFantasyXI "0001" "0002" and "0003" "0004" one set is the resolution rendered of the pictures. the other is the resolutions of the window/viewport showing the pictures... and stretching it if its not the same correct DaneBlood said: » You can do it in the registry if you are playing vanilla. I'm using Windower, here are my registry settings, but are these settings moot because windower overrides them? ![]() Contuar said: » are these settings moot because windower overrides them? Correct, windower edits them every time you launch the game. The config plugin will do what you want, but there's two settings you have to take care of: first disable automatic aspect ratio and then set aspect ratio manually to what you want. Note that results might be underwhelming. EDIT: now that I think about it, character names will probably not be affected by aspect ratio. There's unfortunately not yet a way to return them to a proper size on wide and ultrawide resolutions. Eventually we'll be getting entirely custom nameplates, and this will be an issue of the past. You might find the information you need for the Windower plugin in this thread: https://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/53399/background-aspect-ratio/ I've tried playing around with the aspect ratio in the Config plugin, but no matter what I do, the character names stay the same size. For example, here's the native aspect ratio, about 2.6: ![]() And here's the aspect ratio set to an extreme 5.0 (just to test). ![]() Everything else in the game is being adjusted EXCEPT the character names. Any idea on what could be affecting the size of the names? Contuar said: » Any idea on what could be affecting the size of the names? It's the size of the window. So if you want not-stretched names, you need to have your FFXI window smaller. Contuar said: » Oh that's great! Is this something SE is implementing, or Windower? Windower, it's being developed for v5. ![]() |
