I've swapped past nations dozens of times while doing ops based on the zones they controlled, it's just a two rank loss each time which comes back after a very small handful of ops. Basically just a minor annoyance now.

Wait, are you saying the ops I have completed while in Bastok would still be considered completed if I was in a different nation? So I can just change nations to try and get a campaign op that requires enemy control that I can't get now since Bastok owns all their zones?
Correct. They show up under completed missions regardless of your current allegiance:

(and I do mean missions. not quests. that's not a typo. that's where they are. between Aht Urhgan and Wings of the Goddess under Missions.)

Maybe I had a misunderstanding of the question.

If he was asking if things you clear in one nation get lost when you switch, then obviously no.

Like LH showed, any Ops you complete in any nation are 'saved' in your completed missions list. If you do all 3 nations, you'll see all 246 on the list at the bottom

What I mean is, if I complete Smokescreen I (B) and switch to Sandy does that change to Smokescreen I (S) in my completed missions? Or are people actually completing all 3 separate sets of Ops?

People are indeed swapping nations and repeating each OP 3 times once with every nation

No.. You will have Smokescreen I (B) Completed in your list, and then you'll have to do Smokescreen I (S) at some point in the future

Yes... We actually completed all 3 sets of Ops. 246 total. Yes.. It takes alot of time and diligence

This is devastating news. Is it just assumed all 3 sets count towards Mastery Rank or has there been a person who had completed all ops in one nation who ranked up while completing an Op in another nation?

I was 100% on Sandy Campaign Ops about 2/3s through Windy and Bastok ops (switching between nations each week to pick up new ones that had been unlocked by other players) when a random first completion of a new op in Bastok took me to Rank 9.

In short... Do everything.

If it's something that doesn't excite you at this point in time, do something else until doing that particular thing so obviously holds more weight than other things you can be doing.

Pick and choose your battles.

I think if you're actively paying attention to what ops are available, and you track your completions /needs, then you don thave to obsessively spam Ops week by week. You can just do one or 2 a week that you need until the list becomes so short that you need to put in the work to unlock them yourself.

I did PANKRATION so you don't have to!

SPOILER - it did not miraculously rank me up to 10.

I already had the soul reflector from when the content was released so maybe that's enough for it to "count" as done.

-I ranked up a monster to 50, and applied/capped feral skills to it.

-I won a match in every cage, and also did a capped winning streak in the diablo cage (that one is winner stays on, 20 wins in a row gives you the capped exp reward)

-i bought the headgear with the jettons i won just in case.

here's a mini guide for leveling a monster if anyone's interested...

Wish I could get a more clear-cut confirmation, but a friend is claiming to have gone from MR4 to MR5 after finishing his first stage 5 prime. He finished the weapon on the 13th and didn't say anything until today, but he only ever logs on for sortie and then logs off.

trying to get consort candidate title from fit from a prince. spent 2.5 hrs undertaking and canceling trying to get short black hair hume. which seems impossible, in all that time only 3 hume options would ever come up. am i chasing something that isnt there?

Your options seem limited to specific faces, yeah. I reset the quest hundreds of times across 3 characters and not once ever got Hume options and only ever got specific faces of Taru/Mithra/Elvaan. Some faces never showed up. I only ever saw the same 10-15 results.

When I tested fit for a prince it wasn't even random. It followed a repeating pattern. If you don't get it in ~15 then the combination isn't possible. I forget which character I tested with but it was probably Hume male 8B.

Yeah it loops after 16. I posted my mithra's (4b) pattern when trying to find ave's model back on page 32. dang that was a while ago

"yeah here's the pattern on my mithra (face 4b). The same 16 and then it loops back to the beginning without a change:

Taru – blue white hair three braids cut straight across forehead
Hume – long black hair brushed over to left
Taru – blue hair parted in front tied back in ponytail
Hume – brown hair hides the eyebrows and in ponytail
Elvaan – shoulder length silver brushed back from the face
Taru – blonde hair two pigtails
Taru – voluminous green hair parted in two tied back behind ears
Hume – short black hair brushed over neatly to the right
Taru – blue white hair three braids cut straight across forehead (repeat)
Taru – red hair two pigtails
Taru – blue hair parted in front tied back in ponytail (repeat)
Elvaan – black hair braided behind left ear
Elvaan – pinned up braided black hair
Elvaan – pinned up braided silver hair
Elvaan – silver hair braided behind left ear
Hume – short black hair brushed over neatly to the right (repeat)"

Just gotta ask a bunch of linkshell mates or alts to repeat through their pattern until you find the face you want if matching yourself

can confirm that I did have a Balamor's Adumbration this run - which clearly did not prevent me from getting Queller instead of Adumbration Disperser - so I think it might just be total number of Mistmaw killed?

another thing that may or may not be relevant is that I had not seen one of the Mistmaws before this. and I thiiiink I've killed them all at least now? Hadn't seen Cacus (the golem) before, but now I've definitely seen every one of the weapons as a drop so I'm pretty sure that means all the Mistmaws were enemies too. that could be it? maybe? god only knows, just keep grinding it.

My mule ranked up to 3 when I beat VD Tenzen and U/O for the first time. I didn't zone between them, so I don't know if one alone would have done it.

Hrmm.. I kinda messed up here. Apparently I never finished his non-quest COR AF, so I have to do those before I can reset.

Yeah . . . resetting the AF quests didn't drop me back to 2.

Aha, I knew I wasn't hallucinating. I think it's theoretically possible to get 0.5s on crafting as well, but you have to be attempting something like 20+ levels above you which you're going to be breaking like 95% lol.

I'm pretty sure I've gotten a .5 or 2 in the past (and I'm pretty sure that is the limit, but my memory could be fuzzy) and I think it was during a campaign (not sure if that affects just the rate or the quality).

But IIRC the game will not let you even attempt a synth more than 15 above your skill level. So a char with 0 skill cannot attempt an level 16 recipe, although if you get support you can. (I know there's a cap, I think its 15 but i could be misremembering and 99% sure artificial increases (support/gear) will push the cap up).

Its basically only worth trying when you have terrible options in a given range and the alternatives are crap that fills your inv. and/or stuff is expensive or rare and 1 recipe has dirt cheap NPC ingredients.

Break rates and material loss is very high if you're more than 10 levels below the recipe, and you can only skill up off breaks once < 5 levels from cap.

I know they made it easier at some point (used to need to be at least 1 level below for a skillup now I think you can be +10 or 11)

roughly 3-7 below seems to be the sweet spot for success, getting some .2s and skilling off the occasional break, I leveled more of my crafts aeons ago before they made it easier and a year or so ago I finally finished them off 60-70 during campaign it took like 30-40 minutes per craft for those 10 levels. (maybe a bit longer but it was < 1 hr)

AI SLOP WARNING, FEEL FREE TO IGNORE

Just thought id put this out there for anyone that still needs to make a chocobo for chocobo racing titles. Took in 69 races worth of simulation data from a previously undescribed packet that comes about 4 minutes before the race begins, and told the Ai to come up with some wacky reasoning as to what chocobo is the best for racing. (also solved choco betting to a point, but that's another story)

Not really a possible choco to make with how stat changes work, but I thought it was some interesting info

Oh, and based purely on things on npc chocos in races, so not all the possible items observed and whatnot

A 254 132 254 0 chocobo is extremely easy to make when taking advantage of training tokens. But it will be the target of every single negative item from the npc out on the field which is not ideal in the CC races.

I ended up on (254 STR / 2 END / 255 DSC / 129 RCP)

This was mainly based on the feedback and advice of people here and in other threads, and the thought process was to avoid getting screwed over by the multiple NPCs.

I very consistently got 1st. Dream race took like 3 or 4 tries? And one of the earlier monster races took a few tries, everything else I won 1st try.

Circuit races I ended up going 50 / 62? so 12 losses in 62. Alot of those losses were C1 races where lots of other real players were signed up, and I was too lazy to leave and come back at a later time for a more "free win".

Note: This is while aligned with Sandy, whom on Asura was always last place. I didn't have the good saddle options I was expecting when I planned out having only 2 END, and it still felt like it made no difference.

No need to speculate, it's documented.

Quote:
A player must be within 27 skill levels of the required main skill cap as well as 27 skill levels of the required sub skill cap of the item. There is a much higher chance of failure when one's craft skill is much lower than the required skill cap, but you will have the ability to try to craft the item when you are 27 levels below it.

FYI: Image support does allow you to increase your craft skill for the purposes of making recipes 28+ above your in-menu skill.

Wow 27 levels? I thought it was 15 or 21 (but I couldn't remember its been so long since I tried)

Break and mats loss is horrendous at 10+ though.

I'm kind of at a loss here. I've been stuck at Rank 8 forever.

-Mastery Rank: 8
-Checklist Progress 12023/12944

Key missing things:
  • A handful of Campaign Ops that are inaccessible because Windurst hasn't lost any zones in like a year. All small fry Ops

  • The "missing" Mission title is one that's bugged. I do indeed have it

  • Lambton Worm

  • Yilbegan

  • Ballista titles (most of them)

  • Odyssey: V25 wins for T3s and Bumba

  • Moogle Mastery 41/45

  • The 1000x Mog Garden titles

  • All crafting titles/KIs that require me to delevel my main craft

  • Most Ballista titles

I've seen ***you wouldn't believe.

I really just have to think that it isn't exclusively points-based. I think there are some *hard* requirements that need to be met to reach Rank 9. That is: you can't completely neglect one aspect of content and max out the other ones to accommodate for it. For me... I think that's Ballista.

I can share my full list if anybody cares about the dataset. I wanted to put this out there because I'm about to force some friends to do some Ballista with me for some of those titles, and I have a feeling that it will push me into Rank 9 territory.

If this is the case, then it confirms (at least up through Rank 9) that spread matters more than depth, and that some participation in Ballista is a "hard requirement" to some extent.

---------Also, I've done each of the Garrisons, I've done Pankration, etc. other things that aren't tracked by XIChecklist. If Ballista doesn't push me over, then I'm actually clueless as to how others have reached Rank 9 and I haven't... unless somehow I'm missing some random cutscene from some final mission or quest and god help me if that's the case.

There is no one specific thing walling you off. For the hundredth time.

A good week of master level grinding might get you there.

The other 2 "easier" master trials wouldn't hurt either. Assuming Iroha and Paradise.

I know this keeps coming up. I think part of my resistance to this idea is that... well, the absolute variance in achievements between several of the Rank 9 testimonials.

And if it is all literally just points-based, then Rank 10 is not just *impossible*, but...... *super impossible*

I don't want to place too much emphasis on numbers/metrics coming from XIChecklist because I'm sure most of the performance indicators aren't in there, but I mean................. I am actually almost out of ideas for what I'm missing in-game. I mean this literally.
