Ofc it was. There was many hardcore players 10+ years ago and around the age that let them have a lot of free time. I know at least 2 ppl myself who did it by fishing 10 stacks a day for few months.

I did that quest without bots. I OP'd to Ronfaure and fished for maybe 30mins a day (didn't cap). It really wasn't that bad since I had already bought a Lu'Shang and you could pull them in as soon as you hooked them, no fighting.

That KI description really was a slap in the face when I read it.

Actually this description clearly supports botting when it criticizes you for actually spending time doing this stupid task.

Well, drug dealers arent worried about addicteds health. They just want you to keep consuming their stuffs and paying their money.

Unfortunelly on a game with subscription, the more you play the more they earn so when developing some content they should gauge the estimated time it will keep people busy. For example, Lilith HTBF: they will spend from 1 to 4 months redoing. Escutcheon: they will spend from 3 up to a year grinding. Mythic: they will spend maybe 2 weeks for one weapon.

But FFXI biggest problem is how they release grind that require so low requisites like fishing or grinding sphere and compensate the low requirement with massive amount of items collected. More enjoyable would be less grinding and more qualified requirements. But they prioritize just mindless repeating over time.

to be fair they also tried rewards for difficult content (aeonics) and the player base went a head and made it a merc fest.
i just wish they tried a similar approach way earlier in FFXI's game cycle back when more players were around and mercing was less common.

This is how much it takes when you spend like 5h on it every day (and have 30k alex ready) and that's probably far from avg player's time spent on ffxi and they would use avg player's time, not hardcore's one.
