Too many people in Congress plays those type of games. They have nothing better to do anyway. Sad part is, they use our money to buy their ***. 1. lolkotaku
2. it says the bill will specifically target kids games. So EA is still gonna get away with their *** with Battlefield and Star Wars games. Candy Crush or whatever dumb mobile game kids play these days will be ones most affected, should it pass. 3. seriously, who the *** reads kotaku anymore? Gamers voting with their wallet will continue to determine the fate of lootboxes on a game to game basis. Some companies are still a little dependent on them to get back to being financially stable (Capcom, Square Enix), others its just greed (EA, Activision). But overall, lootboxes have been in decline since the Battlefront II disaster.

even if it passes it will probably leave loop holes and devs will find a way around it.
Quote: “Social media and video games prey on user addiction, siphoning our FFXI right there. (all mmo) Bill isn't going to go anywhere because:
1) In order for these lootboxes to be accessed, you have to have a credit card on file with the device in question. If parents are too stupid to put credit card information on their child's devices, then they deserve to get taken to the cleaners (parents, not anyone else) 2) There is more important issues to worry about in Congress currently. They wouldn't even give this any thought and any bill sponsored by a R in the Senate will get rejected by the Ds in the House. That's the beauty of having a polarized legislative body, not much stupid gets passed often. Mainly idiotic bills that renames the local post office for hack ex-mayor representatives who later can't even beat an unpopular Senator in the state. Freehugs said: » Gilsellers will still sell gil because that's not something that can be regulated by the government. lmao a subscription isn't a p2w thing
Freehugs said: » Hell, we have a congresswoman from New York who doesn't understand what a garbage disposal is. Even worse, she is a spokesperson for the House! Quote: “When a game is designed for kids, game developers shouldn’t be allowed to monetize addiction,” That is pretty much all games, but its so broadly based that, going by the Senator's bill alone, it could mean any and all video games. It's a slope no politician is going to slide down, because it affects their donors, and in turn, their donations.
The most it will accomplish is bad press for the greedaloxes, specifically, EA, who never seems to learn their lesson.

somehow funny how it takes them almost a decade to react to exploitive gambling that very often is even directed at children considering how quick there is a uproar over nothing.
this doesn't address ffxi at all. if anything SE will start selling seminars to other devs on how to implement p2w without relying on loot boxes and micro transactions. Freehugs said: » He sends one of ours to the hospital, we send one of his to the morgue. Asura.Chaostaru
