So apparently my account has been compromised, and I cannot reset my password with the tools on the website. I'm trying to find a phone number to contact them, but no luck. Any chance someone has it handy?
1 (858) 790-7529 ?
or... SQUARE ENIX Support Center Phone Support: (310) 846-0345 ? Nite did it. Said he was sick of losing parses vs your COR ;)
In all seriousness, GL and hope you get it back safely asap In all seriousness, how do you even get compromised... without doing something incredibly stupid.
You literally NEVER input your POL ID, it is literally impossible to match your POL ID other than by random chance (bruteforce) unless you let other people use your account, which is the solid 99% of the time answer, which also qualifies as incredibly stupid. Offline

I suppose the Enix account management page is the weak link but still.
Having your square ID match your character name is a big nono. You could put in Eiryl and try to match passwords until the end of time and never get in. Because one doesn't exist. Leviathan.Celebrindal

I don't know about nowadays, but back in the day my account was taken by someone else and banned and I had to fill out a notary form and send it into the SE hq to prove that I was the original owner of the account so they would give it back to me and un-ban/rollback the account
I found out about all this by calling up whatever ffxi SE number was back in the day Leviathan.Windowpane

I believe this is something a token would've prevented...
Tokens aren't foolproof, just an fyi.
There was a large collection of stolen data posted online recently.
If you re-use email/passwords between services it's possible they were able to log into your account using that stolen info. https://www.troyhunt.com/the-773-million-record-collection-1-data-reach/ Can check if your email has been leaked here. https://haveibeenpwned.com/ Also, apparently that was just collection#1 and there's collection#2 to collection#5. https://krebsonsecurity.com/2019/01/773m-password-megabreach-is-years-old/ My facebook account also was compromised.
Some indian took over it, changed my photo for a beatiful girl and overnight i had 300 friendship request from indians. Hackers are fearsome. Some dude in washington tried to hack my facebook (they send you a notification with the IP now)
Just doing me a favor by taking it. Honestly. Offline

Well nobody smart does It's entirely too much effort to make a "strong" password for a hundred services.
Skeleton password go Only things directly related to money get something different. PP bank cc's “Password1”

They can, and have, but it's extremely rare.
At least, people have been convincing enough to make it believable that they have. Leviathan.Comeatmebro

SE account locks after 3 fails and implements captcha at some point as well. Nobody is brute forcing or even dictionary attacking your accounts, it doesn't matter if your password is secure.
Either you got a keylogger designed for XI itself(so, probably embedded in a piece of XI-related software) or you shared your info with the wrong folk. Asura.Chaostaru

If you dropped a single item, they just restore it. Rollback takes weeks to process, and you need verified IP changes throughout the process or they won't give it to you. ***. not sure if ppl care about an update, but apparently my password was changing on its own multiple times over the past day. Fun times.
And that's what SE said, not I said ;) Leviathan.Celebrindal said: » not sure if ppl care about an update, but apparently my password was changing on its own multiple times over the past day. Fun times. And that's what SE said, not I said ;) Did you get back on though? |
