its passed the time they said that it would take for this maintenence maybe they accidently broke the last few ps2 dev kits they had left and now they gotta shut down the game !!

and realisticly they said the game isnt going anywhere for the next 10years how the heck can they they expect machines from 2000-2003(think thats when slim ps2 came out) to last another 10years they better hurry and port this game to pc entirely

You're as bad at telling time as you are about understanding technology or release dates.

Has anyone noticed that setting your processors affinity to just one core maxes the core to almost 100% since the update.

This would highly depend on how strong each core is.

technology dont last forever man ......... i had one of those flatscreen SDTV's that came out before hdtv's it was a sanyo model i paid $444 for it in 2003 or 2004 we used it the den and it finally went out last year after 13 or 14 years so yes i know about tech it dont last forever

$444 for a tv in 2004 is insanely high, also your math is again: bad.

The game doesn't run on devkits, again your understanding of technology is as bad as your ability to tell time.

What went wrong with the tv? tube? control board? psu (built in, obviously)? I don't recommend opening it to look, you'll probably kill yourself.

As a general rule, everything they say isn't to say it.

It's to make an excuse about why they can't (won't!) do "this"

IE: we are unable (won't) "fix" "that" because "inability" (lazy/understaffed/no money/pick your poison)

A dev-kit is usually a modified version of a product such as a phone or game console.

The modifications allow a computer to download software into the product, to connect peripherals not ordinarily supported, and to debug software more effectively.

A dev-kit often has more memory than the real product, to allow it to run non-optimized code. A dev-kit often has hardware and software features that have not been released to the public.

Dev-kits can be very expensive - for example, 10x what the product itself costs. The are often larger than the final product as they can contain additional and unoptimized hardware.

Dev-kits for next-gen hardware are super-secret. Like fight club, you don't talk about them. Here's a link to an old article about the PS3 dev-kit, with photos and prices.

The PS3 launched at about $500, but the PS3 dev-kit cost $10,000 or more early in its development.

Dev-kits are also rare; few are made, and game studios sometimes have a quota. For example, early in the program a studio might only be allowed two or three dev-kits.

tl;dr -basically they need these kits to make/test content, not to host the game.
