Problems Installing Game

can anyone help me out, i got an email for SE giving me a link to download FFXI to my pc, i downloaded all the links, when i run FFXISETUP, I get to a window where it will say FINALFANTASY.Data.001: unspecified error, then the other files will say can not open file "file name" as archive.

Either go here:

download all 4 files (fully, will take a bit), run .exe

that's it. (well if you're on winblows 8 or above you need to enable directplay components in legacy features but one step at a time).

thx for replying, the first option is what i did took a good bit of time, im on windows 10, when i run the FFXISETUP.exe it goes to the license agreement, then it will go to a 7z window where it says 0% extracting FINALFANTASYXI.Data.txt and at the buttom i see

0 FINALFANTASYXI.Data.001: Unspecified error

2 Can not open file 'FINALFANTASYXI.Data.003' as archive
3 Can not open file 'FIANLFANTASYXI.Data.txt' as archive (that one is 002 becuase i stopped that file and resumed this morning)

Then either:

A. the archives are not in the same folder as the self extracting .exe

B. They're corrupt/incomplete downloads

What browser are you using to download them? If it's IE don't do that.

Im on windows 10 and using google chrome, how would i put the archives in the same folder as the self extracting .exe? sorry im not one with the computer lol

Download all four files and make sure they are all on your desktop and make sure they have the same default names. (nothing with (1) after it).

run the .exe file and it should be ok.

1- Type CTRL + J (in Chrome) to open the downloads tab.

2- Click "Show in folder" under one of the FFXI install items.

3 - Find files from FFXI install and move them elsewhere using the right click context menu. (cut/paste)
