My question is about trick and sneak attack.

At what point does the game check the dex values for sneak attack and agi for trick? Does it apply the damage buff upon activation of the job ability or on the first hit after ja activation?

The reason for the question is because since rudras is modified by dex would it be optimal to stack agi for trick attack ja then stack dex during the ws?

Whatever you are wearing when the hit lands, that's what determines the damage bonus for Sneak Attack and Trick Attack.

This is why you have stacked WS sets and not just SA or TA sets along with a normal WS set. If the damage was determined beforehand you would see THF using two macros every stacked WS.

Do not stack trick and sneak attack, its a waste, and the agi/dex bonuses are lame (should add around 1k each if youre capping att).

Edit: unless youre fighting with pld. That would sacrifice dps to keep hate in pld.
Edit2: and to answer the op, both trick and sneak attack pages on bg make clear, dmg is calculated at moment the hit blows.

The stat-based damage bonus on SA/TA is very weak in comparison to how DEX affects Rudra's as well as how crit damage gear affects critical hits. The main benefit is the forced critical 100% accuracy mainhand hit.

Unless you're using TA for melee hits, really only useful when purposefully building TH on lower level mobs, you have no reason to favor AGI over crit damage or DEX in the case of Rudra's.

You should have a TA specific set, sure, but it won't affect the damage if you're changing into a WS set before the hit lands, and you wouldn't want to TAWS Rudra's in an AGI set anyway.
