On a side note if you right click or long press if on mobile the images can open them in a new tab and see full scale :)

Funny thing is I can actually view them on mobile, but at home on my PC, imgur has been down for a few days so I just get an error every time I try to load it.

Hoxne on SAM is more for spamming Hybrid WSs. The DA boost them a ton. It also takes your zanhasso rate to 0. For normal 4/5/6 steps I would drop the Hoxne in favor of Zanhasso.

Please let me know your thoughts

Look into the Swordfaet-something +1 belt. More store tp.

Drop the ampula, stack storetp. Sam doesn't need ampula.

My math might be completely wrong here but shouldnt 100% DA proc beat a Zanhasso build? even when trying to do 4/5/6 step?

I do know Hoxne doesnt benefit SAM as much as other jobs and some might not like the gil toss of the ammo but If one wanted to use it anyway wouldnt it be an overall boost? Tried to follow some of the chatter in the thread and saw it might be close to a 9% overall boost?
Not really trying to argue against anymore, more so I did just blow 3.5m gali this morning any now somewhat commited to making Hoxne work... Unless it is just absolute trash(which dont think it is?)

I do appreciate the input of others.

I am still hoping for an answer to if the squishier gear is used much at all now?

DT/Meva needs are personal and content dependent. I rock this set 99.9% of the time without any issues. My first swap is AF+4 hands, my second swap is Relic+4 feet.

Tend to make TP sets like: Fodder(-20~25 DT), Hybrid(-50% DT), then sets like for V25, Subtle Blow, etc. My logic might be off with wanting Fodder/Hybrid like that. I use the Sim tool a lot now to try and get base type sets and then customize some from there. I know DEF/MEVA matter a lot and just cause you are DT capped doesnt mean same as it did long ago.

Try it and judge for yourself.

As for lower-dt gear - I personally never use any armor other than Odyssey, empy +3, af/relic +4 or limbus. Everything else is trash and inventory-minus.

Accessories are adjustable depending on preferences. With some augments I'd standardise on empy +3 and Limbus armor for both near max DT and near bis dps.

Af/relic+4 may not have dt but they do have better than good def, mdb, meva and hp.

Speaking of Limbus gear, is the set worth using at R0 at all? Sim tool suggests not. I have been sleeping hard on all the gear outside of earring/ring. Again I do thank you for the help and hope I didnt come off poorly at all.

At R0 the limbus gear is mostly a hybrid/defensive upgrade over non-empy+3. DPS wise af/relic+4 is going to beat it.

IMO the full set is not a worthwhile upgrade for Sam specifically given how much storetp and other useful stats the empy+3 armor has.

You also need to take into account how long it would take to max out the entire limbus set. If you're spending 6 months to a year to cap one piece, and it gives you maybe 1% more dps than, say, empy+3 body, is that a worthwhile upgrade?

I agree with the sentiment but the details are all wrong.

It's not all or nothing. You can upgrade 1 piece, 2, 3, 4, or 5. You don't have to commit to all 5. Talking about the entire set as a whole as a way of dismissing it isn't valuable. The hands and feet are absurdly good.

Also: you could apply this logic to any upgrade in the game. Most individual items don't increase your DPS more than 1% each, so I guess nothing is worth making. Might as well just uninstall the game.

The more STP you have (say, a SAM with samurai roll), the more valuable QA becomes and the less valuable STP becomes. Empy body is really nice because it helps you cap DT, but the clemency body is WAY better in terms of DPS.

6-12 months per piece assumes you're not coming even remotely close to doing all the climbs and you're getting 0 unique data. It's probably realistically more like 3 months per piece, or even less if you're getting unique data.

There's a lot of things I could say if I wanted to be mean.

Having special -tism powers does not excuse anyone from being an ***. If you're an *** while on special -tism powers, you are an *** and have special -tism powers.

Having Kusanagi stage 5, i think more stp for tp over flow is undervalued, Mumei does way much better damage at higher tp 1800 or so and above. its not even close imo. not really sure if QA makes that much of a Diff especially in these short fights in Limbus farming. i dont use calculators or any addons to figure this stuff out. just personal experience

It's only undervalued if people don't focus on it or actively avoid it if it's good.

Sams have known for a long time that STP is bar none the best stat to focus on for themselves. With a proper hasso setup, it's quite common to go from WS to 2k+ TP with the right build.

The hand slot is the only one I'd consider for SAM and its very low priority at that. Feet would be very niche but we already have Ryou+1 for 99% of mobs/content and Relic for the last 1%.

This ***is wild to me.

10 STP on relic feet vs 5 QA on clemency sune-ate.

Who's ready to swap their niqmaddu ring (3% QA) for a chirich ring? Imagine the niqmaddu had 5% QA instead of 3%. Still ready to swap it?

Relic are just straight up worse than clemency in every conceivable way.

I sim'd ryou vs clemency feet and clemency won on DPS, while also being made of concrete instead of wet paper towels.

It's fine to say you don't want to grind for marginal increases, but let's not pretend the gear isn't good. It's BIS. It's very safe and better than the other safe options. It is also better than the glass cannon pieces.

Both hands and feet are priority upgrades for Sam, IMO. The only Limbus armor I'd consider fully augmenting (for Sam). Both are clear upgrades over alternatives both DPS wise and defense wise.

Friends don't let friends use Escha trash gear.

I didn't say they weren't BiS. (The math is obvious) My point is the upgrade is low priority.

SAMs TP gain is already top tier. SAMs WS/melee damage ratio is the highest in the game. You could remove the hand and foot slot altogether and still be sitting on 2k TP constantly.

Wasting 60/120 matters on gain you'll never notice was my point.

The advantage of all these Limbus pieces is they're multi job, multi purpose (offense and defense). Makes set building practically brainless after a point. So the benefits are not solely for your primary job.

Kinda applies to all of the limbus gear though so...duh?

If you only play PLD of the jobs on sworn set, then the benefit of having TA on the body isn't so great.

I don't disagree that the benefit for SAM is somewhat marginal, but again: the same could be said for every piece of gear in the game and just results in: well, might as well not play ffxi then.

Name a piece of limbus gear that will revolutionize the job once you upgrade it. There are none. Each one is a "nice to have" 1% increase in DPS speed. Might be a dozen more meva, 3 more MDB. 5 more stp, 50 more HP, whatever.

This stuff is great for SAM not because you're gonna suddenly double your DPS but because, IMO, you'll be sitting at that 2k TP all the time while TPing in gear that's sturdy as ***.

Even the JSE that people promote isn't all that sturdy. It's lower in basically every relevant stat. These pieces are excellent upgrades and if you care about SAM you should get them.

I suppose if you play 6 sworn jobs and only 1 clemency job then sure...but this is a SAM thread so that's a bit weird to bring up.

Clemency is also very good for all 4 jobs so it's not as though you're building a piece you'll never touch on the other jobs. Weird points.

Thankfully, Clemency set includes 3 meta relevant jobs and not something niche like BST or NIN. In a post-Odyssey era, it would be very rare for a player to invest so much into samurai exclusively and have zero job overlap, especially COR, but even (prime) DRG which is an elite DD. So you're not really "wasting" 60 matters.

Anyways, it was just a side point.
