Didn't do that, moved stuff around and fiddled abit, I no longer get that error, I started getting another error where I had to launch GUI in the same area (My pc terminology is awful) but moved it to the same drive as FFXI, now If i click launcher_gui it boots the game, in original FFXI mode, no windower, and horrific fullscreen!!

If i right click open in administrator i get this:

Windower 3 GUI Launcher

Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the securtiy policy. To grant this application the required permission, contact your system admin, or use the microsoft .NET framework config tool.

Then click continue etc etc

most would suggest it being on the same drive is necessary.

if you're running on windows 7, it's best to have UAC off or on the lowest setting.

it's best to change playonline and windower to run as administrator

leave off compatibility settings.

aside from that updated plugins (or check to make sure if any are broken) or troubleshooting issues, have them all set to not autoload, and change once you get it working.

last thing really would be to check all config files, set up XI config for your language, then configure the .ini as needed.

that's about it really.

do you have administrator privileges on your computer?

I need to get back to bed or I'd offer some teamviewer assistance, see if he'll fix it, or if I get time at work I'll bump the thread and see.

It's been awhile since I set it up myself, so I'm probably rusty.

Ok! Semi sucsess, I turned of all my plugins (all of them) and it loads in windower.
Now though it A) Has no sound (from the menu after it has loaded the game *when the blue screen comes up* onwards)
B) It is stuck in the top left side of my screen, not bordered, any ideas? lol

A. launcher_gui has some settings dealing with the sound, I'm sure the .ini does as well. or some config file.

B. sounds like a directx problem I had when trying to get XI to work in XP in a virtual machine via Virtual Box. Aside from that, no idea.

or a directx problem could cause both of those really... what operating system are you on?

go ahead and give this a whirl:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

won't hurt.

but in case you're worried, set up a system-restore point first.

Launcher_gui, max sounds are set to 0 by default, set them to 12 if I remember correctly (or higher if you want although higher won't make any difference).
