So what's the spell that never leaves your spell rotation? Regardless of the occasion is there a spell that you always have at the ready? For me, Sudden Lunge, Heavy Strike, and Occultation never get put on the bench. Sudden Lunge's long stun cripples trash mobs and lets me recast whatever buffs i need to. Heavy Strike is self explanatory, and Occultation is great defense against most mobs (juat as long as I can stun any -ga spells)

VW pretty much rapes any concept of "I never unset this spell!".

If I'm wearing a sword though, DWIII DA/TA and lunge but even then there are situations where I set for very specific things and don't have space for even staple spells. Whisker burning for one. I drop lunge in favor of Temporal shift.

Animating Wail is probably the only spell that never leaves my spell list.

The rest generally change depending on situation.
White wind is rarely taken off these days though.

Refresh, and haste are really the only 2 spells I never change.

Heavy strike is the only one that i could say that is always on my list i guess, always have either DA or TA set up. Sudden Lunge is set also nearly always but i have seen myself forced to remove it in some double blu VW groups.

Sometimes when I made parties I went BLU solely to DD and invited a different BLU to handle all the procs themselves. :3 Such a jerk.

I struggle with this a lot, specially when you need certain traits for a given situation. But If I am soloing or even 'duoing' with a friend I like to have sudden lunge, dream flower, battery charge, animating wail, Actinic Burst and occultation.

It varies by what I am doing of course, but I like to set spells in groups based on what attribute they'll give me. For damage, I like heavy strike, quad. continuum, amorphic spikes, goblin rush, delta thrust. I like to cast delta thrust at the starts of fights if I can to plague the mob.

I have plenuline embrace, but I usually set magic fruit instead for a quickie cure. It seems more mp efficient.

I like winds of prom and actinic burst for auto refresh.

I like empty thrash and heavy strike for double attack, and I usually have heavy strike set anyways.

I like animating wail, blazing bound, quad continuum, and delta thrust for dual wield, and I usually have animating wail (for haste), quad continuum (for damage) and delta thrust (for damage and to be mean to mobs) set anyways.

Sudden lunge is a must for lovely, long-lasting stuns, and paired with fantod I like the store tp bonus. And if I add benthic typhoon to my goblin rush, I get a sc bonus.

I also always like battery charge and dream flower. If I plan to tank or have a tank in my party, I like diamonhide, but it takes forever and a day to recast.

Anyways! All that nonsense usually goes in my spell list, plus or minus a few for situational situations. So imagine the level of cranky when I hopped from a different job onto blu, geared up, and headed out, and when I was ready to fight and tried to cast delta thrust on whatever, I didn't have it set! I had an assortment of ice, thunder, light, and dark spells set. Darn you, Voidwatch! Darn you to heck! And darn the system that my ls uses, that two blus split the procs and do no damage other than that. *sob*

I need to dig through Proth's spell sets. I bet he would have some good tips and pointers to improve my usual random assortment of spells.

Because of VW, Delta Thrust is probably the only spell that never leaves my set. Delta Thrust + Barbed Crescent sets Dual Wield for only 4 points, so I can still set 4 elements for procs.

Without VW, I always focus on traits first, which means I pretty much always set DW3, TA, and Store TP.
I usually set Auto Refresh spells but not always.
I usually set Battery Charge but not always.
I usually set Amorphic Spikes (darkness SC with CDC) but not always.

If I didn't 2-box, I would probably set Occultation and Magic Fruit, and maybe Regeneration a lot more often.

When i VW on blu I go either /war with DW3, TA, etc., or /nin with DA, if I have to set more than two elements to split 1/2 with another blu.

Not sure if i do it because i did read it somewhere or because of self-logic but now that you mention DW1 it makes me think about it D;

Does the extra attack/acc from berserk/aggressor and a few more DA beat the extra 15% dual wield from /nin in those situations?

super low mp cost, slow, vit-down, AND BEAST KILLER???

lol, i leveled blue mage as a completionist thing (and a sub for loldrg) but i was determined to solo all my spells. Oh the fun we had :L

Sudden Lunge.

From the minute this spell launched I have been amazed at the ability to improve upon Head Butt taken up by SE. It's like a gift with no strings attached. A true rarity.

Yeah this one only in VW where I have to load every proc spell is it ever out. Just simply the best little stun in our arsenal.

Water bomb.
When you absolutely positively need a group of casters to stfu and stop casting when dream flower is down.
amazing for caster pulling from behind/out of aggro range in dynamis too.
