Post here your most frustrating, irritating, awful, hated or downright despised (high) notorious monster(s).

Be that for a certain item it JUST WON'T DROP, the way it is popped/claimed/spawned, the beast itself just being a total pain or any other reason.

Now I'll be honest and haven't played that much Voidwatch yet, but I'm pretty experienced in everything else when it comes to notorious monsters, so here's just my 50 cents:


It took me about 10 kills to finally get the dang abyssite. Stupid death, stupid doom aura ><


I have a general hate towards the entire monster family Mantid but this thing just... ARGH.

and for lolz...


After 10 years I still don't have the boots...

There's probably a ton more but those are the first that popped into my mind and I don't want to make this first post that much longer.

High Notorious Monster.
Maybe I'm old-fashioned and that term isn't used anymore though.
Back when 75 was the level cap Byakko for one was considered a HNM and I guess Fafnir, Nidhogg, Behemoth King, Cerberus and the like were as well.

Byakko wasn't an HNM, the classification of one is generally where they either had a set time spawn where hordes of people botted to claim

My list of hatred:

King Behemoth: Dring doesn't exist
Khimaira: *** this guy's moves so much
Dark Ixion: Just when I thought I was in the perfect spot, your lightning spear/lance whatever would 1 shot me

(These are hatreds from being 75)

Akvan for sure... You can imagine how much i hate it after i heard a ls mate had found 9 bodies so far while all i found was the ammo, which could have been the body instead, once in tens of runs.

I was always told a HNM was considered a NM that required more people then the usual 6 to defeat. The more you know =) Thanks for the info.

After spending what seems like an eternity to get Tourbillion I agree wholeheartedly on the Khimaira XD Never had the eh.. privilage to fight Dark Ixion though.

Sandworm. He gave me big paychecks at 75 which I enjoyed, but *** camping that thing everyday when he went the full five-hours +2hours of holding to keep him away from JP time. Or even worse zoning him non-stop for hours to keep him away from JP time. >:/ Not to mention all the Doomvoid wars.

No sir XD I went for Tyger. I think it took... six, maybe seven pops to learn it. It's just that it took a long time to actually be able to pop it every time.

Back on topic I'd have to say Aspi. While other shells would get the luck of double A.Body drops, we'd see double D.Feet drops. Kirin was high up there too, when it was my turn for a Shining Cloth finally, he decided to stop putting out and we didn't see one drop in something like 3+ months.

As epic as end-game felt back then, can't say I miss it much. :3

On a more normal note, I went 1/1 on the first NM that drops that set of MaCC/MaB earrings a few years ago (too lazy to look up the names atm), then went like 0/20+ on the second one and just stopped caring >_>.

Most "HNM" were defined by: Having a rage timer. If it didn't have one, it's not an HNM in my book. (No rage timer means it's not really a Hyper NM.) Ignoring AU Kings, those just had a stupidly long window compared to Land Kings, etc.

Promathia - took something like 5 hours of effort to beat that thing back in the day (1 shotted it recently, was so nice)
Proto-Ultima - just when you thought you had it down it would holy 2 your pld's face off
King Arthro - easy lowman, pia to camp with 20 people there always
jourmy - fought it 4 hours straight twice, wiped both times
Einherjar T2 slimes - so much aoe spam
Kirin - at 75 only saw w legs drop once in an entire year of sky, lowmaned at 99 and got drop 2 pops in a row
ix'drk - need moar hate
Dyna valk funguar nm - deathga in a spray can

others im sure, played this way too long x.x
