Kids are idiots
This is just... astonishing... I hate videos like this. They won't show the majority of people who can answer the questions correctly.
WTF.... Canada is a state now?

I'd hope so How does that make someone dumb? I mean, it's not like you will use that knowledge in your everyday life. It's random facts that they obviously don't care about.
Seriously, half of that ***isn't completely relevant to your daily schedule so why does it matter?
Considering the guy was wearing an Olympia shirt I feel like it's safe to assume they are in WA, and I understand not knowing some other states' if I didn't live there. I live in WA and would be just as dumb looking if you asked me Florida's capital. You should at least know your own capital. And honestly go around to some teens and ask them some of these questions. Sure it may not have been 100% diverse in who they were asking, but it does seem like they did vary who they were asking. I see this all the time in my high school and it's really sad. These aren't exactly difficult questions. I'd give them like the democratic candidate/VP ones. May not be into politics, etc. but still.

Why does knowing your states capital make you intelligent or not intelligent? If someone memorizes all the capitals and every war in the history of the world, does that make them smart?
Kind of agree with Mortontony here. Geography is simple. You learn it in elementary and middle school. Can people really not retain that kind of basic knowledge?
No but being aware of basic facts/the world around you does.

Im with the past two posts. Although i was amazed they couldn't name the bordering countries...

That's why I said I would be willing to give those to them. The candidates one is a bit more understandable, but the VP one not so much. But again that may not be their thing, so I'll give those as freebies. And plenty of kids pay attention to that. mortontony1 said: » No but being aware of basic facts/the world around you does. Subjective, I disagree. Knowing random facts you can spew out anytime some idiot comes to question your intelligence, doesn't automatically make you smart. Some people do forget that information, it happens when you don't use that info over a long period of time. With all the information readily available at our fingertips, its even less of a problem. Trying too hard.
PS: Somebody could easily have made you look just as "idiotic" on tape when you were a kid. No, and I doubt everyone here can do that. That certainly doesn't make them dumb, imo.

Agreed. But the majority of these aren't just random facts. I'm not all patriotic and ***, but Jesus these kids don't even know how many stars are on the flag. OR HOW MANY STATES THERE ARE. Stuff like that is, in my mind, unacceptable. Basic, common knowledge. Not asking what the capital of India is. Not asking to name all presidents in order. Just some basic knowledge. I'm disappointed in my generation. I would feel pretty dumb if I didn't know Harrisburg was my state's capital.
