I personally don't own a tablet, but I did play FFXI on the first release of Acer's aspire one netbook.
New tablets are probably way more powerful than that thing was.
I did run on a very low resolution, but it did allow me to dualbox (with a very low fps:P)

I thought that thing only ran Android?

Edit: Last thing I remember seeing\hearing:

One step closer towards replacing your x86 netbook, but yet still not quite there yet. First, Windows 7 has to be streamed to the tablet (with one of ASUS’ provided apps) from another computer which needs to be on with an internet connection and running Windows.

which would, somewhat, be silly. unless you dont pay your energy bill ;)

but back to topic. from the pure power of a good tablet, FFXI should run. dunno if on highest resolutions and/or if you get (massive) slowdowns with lets say 18 blm´´s massacrating stuff in Abyssea right at a conflux, lol.

youd need a windows tablet though, since i dont know of any support for android/ I OS itself, although Android support would be clever for SE to do.

but even if it all runs, what about the keyboard? i dunno how flexible an ondisplay touch-keyboard would work in everyday play.

Keyboard wouldnt be a problem since its more for general playing I won't be typing alot, and I can plug in a mini flexi keyboard if need be. ;)

All you can do right now with tables and FFXI is to use it as a remote desktop.

Yes, but the OS they run(mostly) cannot run FFXI.
If you can find a tablet that actually runs full windows, you should be able to play it just fine with a controller etc
