THF Job Traits
Back to the Main Guide
Gilfinder Gets you more gil on gil-dropping monsters. It's enhanced by the assassin's culottes +2 as well as the bandolero scarf. At high levels, there are much, much faster ways of obtaining gil than relying on this job trait. To my knowledge, the only reliable gil-dropping monsters are beastmen and pre-Abyssea NMs. Evasion Bonus Increases your evasion, up to +60 by level 99. This, coupled with your best-in-Vana'diel evasion skill, and naturally high AGI, makes you pretty much evasion capped for most content. For times when that is not the case, there are LOTS of gear options for evasion that I will cover in the Equipment section. Treasure Hunter Resist Gravity You have a small chance to resist gaining Weight, somewhere slightly above 20%. Sometimes you can use Flee to remove it as well. Just like in real life! Triple Attack You have a base 6% chance to triple attack at 99. With merits, it goes up to 11! I will talk more about this in the TP gear theory section. Assassin Guarantees that a correctly lined up Trick Attack will crit. This is a standard feature of Sneak Attack. While mainjob THFs have no more reason to ever think about this job trait, if you're /THF this means your Trick Attacks are not guaranteed crits. Ambush (Merited) Adds accuracy and ranged accuracy when behind a monster, 3 per merit. Not very useful, even with the nice sounding augment from assassin's vest +2 (gives you 1% triple attack rate per ambush merit). Why? One, most of the time you will have capped accuracy. Two, in most fights you will find it hard to stay behind the monster - landing Sneak Attack is hard enough, you really can't expect to spin with the monster the entire time. And you can't stay behind the monster when soloing, at least without getting your trust NPCs killed. Aura Steal (Merited) Adds a dispel effect to your Steal ability, IF you didn't steal anything. The only endgame content I can think of where you have a chance to steal something is Dynamis, so for all other purposes think of it as making your useless Steal ability into a Dispel ability with a 5 minute cooldown. Extra merits increase the possibility by ~20% per merit that you GAIN the dispelled buff, useful for monsters with super buffs like Jailer of Love. But be warned: you never quite get a 100% absorb rate, and repeated usage of this ability against a single enemy will greatly reduce its effectiveness. An augmented assassin's bonnet +2 will make it steal two effects instead of one. (ty Calamity) Crit Attack Bonus Increases your Critical Hit Damage by a total of 14%, kapow! Dual Wield Gives you up to 25% dual wield delay reduction, which is the same as subbing Ninja! Back when level 75 was the cap and we didn't have this job trait, /NIN was the subjob of choice for the dual wield trait, but now that is no longer a factor. Note that there is a delay cap - your combined actual weapon delay, modified by Dual Wield and Haste, cannot be less than 20% of your base weapon delay, so there is a limit on how much of this you can stack under heavy buff conditions.
