Very nice. DRK has to be one of the hardest ones (Besides MNK). Though that may just be because it was also my first one.
When i think back, first job i beat maat with was the hardest as well (THF) until now DRK lol. I went 1/1 on MNK 66 though, but I've heard alot of ppl having lots on trouble on mnk as well.
DRK is the only job that took 5 tries. I think most of the jobs im 1/1 on, RNG i was 1/2 i think, THF i dont remember, but went a few times. Aside from THF and DRK i dont think I've had to try more than 3 times at most.

I beat THF on a deleveled, naked, retired THF wearing only AF and a borrowed Blau Dolch at LV74, lol.
hmm idk, but then again, i was still a noob back when i fought thf maat lol. I went 1/1 on RDM @ 75 though, CS Blizzard III and sleep during his 2 hr.
I've been told that SMN is very easy, so I hope thats true. I'm really not looking forward to lv smn lol, but its 48 atm, so "only" 18 levels to go :D

hehe i really really didnt like lv whm, it was very painful so i feel for you. But on the good side, thats probably the easiest job to beat maat with, if you use repose strat lol
WHM was a joke. With repose there's no challenge to it at all. Walk in, repose, heal, repose, heal, repose, heal. I think it took me a whopping 4-5 reposes to win.
MNK was a pain in the *** (GF's char). It took us 5 tries I think? 3 of them being her and 2 being me. It's all a matter of timing and how many times Maat uses his WS.

I think SMN was one of the easiest. Then again, I did it at 75. You might want to wait until 70+ to do yours. Run in, Predator Claws, wait a minute, Predator Claws. Garuda shouldn't die in that 1 minute wait, and if she does, just run back to the entrance and resummon, timer should be up by then.

Eclipse Bite should work just fine. It's weaker than Predator Claws but it should still kill him in two, maybe three shots. And I can't recommend using 2hr because it saps all your MP and doesn't even do as much damage ast LV70 BPs.

I did smn at 66 and went 1/1 without even using Astral Flow. If you have diabolos you just phalanx with pet out and wait for timers then run in and nightmare maat and his pet then use netherblast for damage. Wash rinse repeat. At around 50% run back to the beginning to recast.
0/4 and in an xp party now cause I'm down to 222 buffer :(

I recommend any monks having trouble with the maat fight check out the shattering stars guides on clopedia. A combo of all 3 given strats works best.

MKris'd him for the win. It was pretty broken haha. Went in and fired off SE and BW and chipped away til BW wore then equipped scythe and used a wing > Guillotine and he gave up.

Ugh I have exactly the same prob on my DRK... I'm 15/15 but still need to beat him on DRK, RNG + BST.
So far I went 1/1 on all jobs except 2x 1/2 ... but Maat DRK is the biggest *** I've ever had. Atm I'm 0/5 on it <.< and really sick of farming tests already.
Gonna get a new test + try again after the maintenance... if anyone wanna give me some new / good strats, please let me know.

Should work nicely! DRK Maat can just beat you sometimes though regardless of how hard you try.
^ What Raen said. Drk maat was the most random fight for me, went 1/3 on it at 66; compared to other fights it felt very unbalanced (Weapon Bash does 10 damage from us but his does 250, wtf?). Other things you may have forgotten: blink bank at the start, and a regen drink. Just keep at it, you can do everything right but he can pull off a stun + bash + WS combo that you can do nothing about but curse your luck.
Easy DRK Maat:
Find friend with an MKris.
Borrow MKris.
Rape in 12 seconds.
Find friend with an MKris.

DRK is the only Maat fight I've done. Did it for the level cap. I waited 'til I was DRK70 to do it (I was scared to do the fight any earlier ._.) but it was so easy when I did.

- Last Resort/Souleater Guillotine

Oh i forgot to write that I did use Blink Band + Persikos au lait... my food was carbonara. also i used Souleater, Last Resort + Blood Weapon.... and still failed. When does he give up? at 5% ?
It seems random honestly. People report anywhere from 5% to 20%.
If you heal up before the 2nd SE Guillo, you should nail him. Hopefully.

It really is random. The time I won he was at about 20% HP iirc; whereas on my second attempt he was lower than that, yet I still lost.
Drk was my first maat fight, and i found it father easy. Granted i was fully capped on xp. Useing the blink back and food.
The simple SE+LR+guillotine - incarsis wing - guillotine, (snuck in a single hit inbetween to ws's) was enough to finish him off right away. My equip was similar to what Nikashi posted. Few diffrences but generaly the smae type of setup. Sry to hear it took you 5 tries, i no that would annoy the hell outa me
