Character Configuration Page Not Working For Non-LS-community Config

It is not possible to submit changes to character configuration without an LS Community page. I receive the following error:
Warning: Your LS Community URL appears to be invalid. It should look something like:
http://fanzone.playonline.com/lscom/characterAllData.do?EQUIP_LINKSHELL_ID_STRING=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx&VIEW_LINKSHELL_ID_STRING=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If you do not have a LS Community profile, leave this field blank.

This error occurs whether the field is blank or left with the default value of http://

Amending this: As evinced by my post and character page bearing an avatar, it is possible to make changes, they are simply not confirmed as having been made on the page which reports the error above.
