If anyone hasn't seen Akira, its an anime movie made back in 1988. It's pretty impressive considering when it was made and became a classic.

Hmm, I'm currently watching Tokimeki, its not too bad. Just finished watching a series called Kaleido Star, that was alright~^^; Tokimeki is a School/Slice of life kind of daily lives of some youth. Kaleido Star is about a famous circus group, and it shows how this girl was able to get in and so on. These were just latest.. I'll watch any anime really. :x

A nice diverse selection there. Well first you may want to update yourself with Hellsing Ultimate if you haven't watched that already. The second season of Haruhi I would only suggest if you were a hardcore fan of the first, because you'll have to wade through 8 endless episodes of the same content. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is currently airing and is a good 27 episodes in, so if you don't mind watching a series as it runs that would be a good one to pick up, it's relevant to your interests. As Clinpachi said earlier, Soul Eater is an excellent anime (sans the plot alteration from the manga). Going old school here, if you haven't watched Outlaw Star, that would be another you should get your hands on. Lastly I'll pop in Code Geass. It has mecha in it, but I feel it is worth watching even if you don't care for that type of genre. The main character is very reminiscent of Light from Death Note. Hope this helps to get you started.

I could mention many and may revise my post later to do so, but because I am short on time I will just mention one for now. There is a really good anime/manga called Natsume Yuujinchou. Animation on the anime is well done, writing and characterization are also very polished in the series. Each episode or chapter usually leaves me with something to think about. Its a bit odd in its genre though...its shoujo because of the focus on feelings/characters but in some ways it has shonen elements as well (main protagonist will to protect, a bit of fighting, supernatural stuff, etc.).
Basically its about a boy who can see youkai and is left the mysterious "Book of friends" by his grandmother. Youkai come after him to have their names removed or to steal the power the book would give them in commanding other youkai for themselves. It draws a lot off of Japanese mythology and I highly recommend it.

Oh I totally forgot about Outlaw Star, that was a pretty nice series. Does Hellsing - Ultimate differ much from the original version?

It does. Unlike the original run of the series, Ultimate stays true to the manga's storyline, and on top of that has much better animation quality. Though, it's much more of a gore fest than the first, so you may want to prepare yourself for that if you don't care for that kind of thing.

Hmm, I should look into that then.
FMA seems like a great series, I always wanted to watch them but it seems like there are so many episodes out there...
You are definitely right about Code Geass, the main character is pretty reminiscent of Light.^^

With FMA be sure not to confuse the original with Brotherhood. The latter would be the currently running one which follows the canon of the manga. I would actually suggest watching both as they could be considered very different series/stories due to the original diverging so far. Both have excellent animation and voice acting (seeing as BONES did both, and the major seiyuu returned) and have some really decent OP/EDs.

I generally watch hentai nowadays but i can give a few ideas. Saikano - Really good if you dont mind how sappy it is. Excel Saga - H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S, if u want a good laugh and enjoy utterly random ***give this one a go Goldenboy - Classic, i still quote and laugh at this one today. also the main character is epic Elfin Lied - If you dont mind the nudity/gore this one has an amazing story, one of my favorites for sure. The Twelve Kingdoms - Very long and has a ton of story, great if you have alot of time on your hands (i think it was 42 episodes, and it didn't come near to getting finished, have to read the manga for the rest of the story).

Lelouch is better then Light! Light started out good but got kinda corrupted by power. Lelouch like always planned way out in advance and purposedly made himself to look the bad guy so he could...stuff

Thank you all for your input and suggestions, please keep them coming! They made a sequel to Excel Saga called Puny Puny Poemi, though it had nothing to do with the original storyline, it was still somewhat funny.

Well since Love Hina is in your list, I guess I'll put out some romance/comedy/slice of life'ish ones. ToradoraClannadKanon (a bit more supernatural) Oh jeebus I can't believe I forgot to mention one of my favorites. >_< Full Metal Panic Unfortunately the first season didn't come out very well, but when KyoAni picked up the 2nd and the 3rd the quality of the series really showed. Though I'm an avid reader of the novels that this series is based on so it may not seem as awesome to other people. XD

Hayate no gotoku. Props if you can understand all the random references to other anime/manga/video games/jp culture that pop up all the time that they partially bleep out for "copyright protection" lol

Yeah, I was thinking of mentioning Hayate, Lucky Star, and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, but they require decent amount of insight into the Japanese culture to understand a lot of the jokes/references.

Yeah, I saw that when watching Lucky Star, but imo you still don't 'get' the joke because it has to be explained in the end. Oh and all the little signs in Zetsubou Sensei that were translated, namely on the chalkboard, I would have to pause just to read them all. @_@
Jumping back to some more Shounen stuff.
Rurouni Kenshin Busou Renkin Naruto (sans fillers)

Outside of stuff already mentioned, I've been messing around with The Sacred Blacksmith, Eden of the East, Chrome-Shelled Regios.
Also haven't seen Gurren Lagann mentioned, nor Detroit Metal City, which is super *** hilarious. lol
Huge recommendation towards FMA: Brotherhood and Hellsing-Ultimate WITH ENGRISH DUB. Voices are really great, especially Anderson. <3

GAH! Dubs! *covers his ears* Honestly I don't mind most dubs (though some can be horrendous) but I prefer watching it with the intended voices chosen by the animation studio.
I'll double up with Caiyuo on the Gurren Lagann suggestion. This anime is so testosterone filled that it will give you chest hair on your chest hair.

I normally agree with that, TGM, but in this case considering the characters are englush themselves and the accent doesn't really translate well through a japanese voice-actor I liked the dubs much betterer. I might budge a little, but the voice-actors they chose nail the roles so well that I just can't entertain listening to non-dubbed Hellsing now. lol Sadly I don't think Ultimate 5 or 6 are scheduled to be dubbed by Funnymation. :v
*** YOU BELIEVE IN THE ME THAT BELIEVES IN YOU. You'll love Gurren, and you won't have a choice in the matter, Ellise.

Toradora Clannad Kanon (a bit more supernatural) I loved ToraDora! Those 3 are all really good! I would say Kanon '06 version, and expect to cry a lot in Clannad (well, Clannad~After Story) some others worth checking out that are a little more recent: Eden of the East (someone mentioned it earlier) Bakemonogatari Claymore (like 2 years old but still one of my favorites) K-On! (done by Kyoto Animation, like Clannad, Kanon, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
