Long Login Times & Lag Ingame

Is anyone else experiencing very long login times? It usually takes me 10 seconds to login but today it is taking 30-60 seconds or more to login if I keep getting errors. This happened to me once yesterday, too. This morning I was getting 1-2 second delays from the time I sent a request to the server to cast a spell to the time the spell starts casting on my screen.

My internet speed is fine. A speedtest came back with the normal results and low ping (7ms).

Is this just for me or are others getting this too? I've been unable to login with a good connection and I've been trying for around 30mins now. I managed to login once but I still had 1-2 second action delay so I just logged out. I think I'm about to give up on ffxi for the next hour or two.

I'm experiencing this now (Tuesday, Sept 20 9:50 am est).
Hangs up on retrieving friends list and getting errors.

I'm getting massive "Search Failed" messages, and I know of a lot of other people who are having the same connection issues.

I was booted when trying to connect to the lobby server as well as a whole bunch of errors throughout POV when I tried to get back in.

I got booted from game on one character while the other one didn't s0 or r0 at all. Then 2/3 characters on that account got Downloading Data Screened then got booted again and now can't even login while my other character is having 0 issues standing in PJ at least.

Warped into Bastok Markets on my main and timed out.

Logged into mule who was in Bastok Mines and he logged in fine, but zoned into Bastok Markets and timed out.

Lobby server times out half the time as well.

@ Yenrab: Yes, when I am experiencing this login trouble mine likes to hang there, given that it actually manages to get to that point. This is the typical turn of events.

Checking PlayOnline Viewer version --fast--
verifying playonline ID and password --hangs here, often fails and gives error-
verifying square enix ID and password --hangs a little here--
Retriving online status -hangs a short while here--
Retrieving friend list --hangs a long time here
Retrieving content ID list --kinda fast-
Retrieving messages --fast? idr--

@ Firedemon: Yes, I've been noticing that a lot lately too. If I /sea all charname oftentimes it gives me a 10+ second "Searching..." message in the search box, at which point I just exit out of the search box due to impatience. It happens way more now than it used to; it's an everyday thing now.

It seems like the login issue goes away on its own after a while and that it is independent from any factor that could be tied to what resetting your pc/modem/router would fix, as doing so doesn't fix this for me.

Happened to me about 30 minutes ago, came back and still seems to be happening. Was in Western Altepa Desert at the time, happened when I was muling.

I think it's on their end.. not client side.

Just timed out on me and can't get back in with 0011 error showing.

All other net is fine.

Time to build a bit more of that 50,000 block rail track in Minecraft.

Figured I'd check reddit/ffxiah after trying to troubleshoot my connection, so I am sorta glad it isn't just me.

Wife and I r0 in FFXI and got disconnected from Discord, but we were able to connect to the internet otherwise just fine. Reset the modem/router, flushed dns, etc. Reconnected to Discord, but logging into POL is iffy; it hangs up when loading [insert handle/friends/etcetc] and I'll have to hit "Retry" and hope it goes through. Then when it finally loads FFXI, it can hang right when it loads, and also when we're at the black screen and downloading.

This has happened twice in the last week or so; haven't had an issue like this in a long time.

-edit- The Discord disconnect might have been when I reset our modem and router (I don't remember), figured I'd include it anyway just in case.

Just hung on the "downloading data" screen on a mule while zoning. Took 3 times to make it back through POL.

Now he is "downloading data" again trying to log back in.



What service provider does everyone use? I'm in the middle of the east coast with Comcast.

Yep mine is just fine, been streaming music since work day started and no lag there. But ffxi is being lazy. Same login problems you guys are having. Although I can login to a mule on asura just fine, but the char on fenrir is a no go.

South East Coast Comcast too.

Same problem trying to login to mule in Asura. Screen stuck on downloading data and then times out over and over again. Then message said no connection to FFXI server. Internet provider is comcast. Main character login fine though.

I'm Northern VA with FIOS

Southeast with BenLomond. They're a small local company and they might be piggybacking off someone else, though.

Northern California, AT&T

NW Iowa, Cableone 100/25 connection. Tested everything else that requires a network connection, and they are all working.

Its just POL/FFXI that is not working atm i guess.

I am playing on fenrir on one char, and the other is having login issues now.... Definitely not us #SE

Just got back to the game after 18 months, guess i'll read stuff up while they fix it...

I'm watching someone play on Asura on Twitch not having any problems and there are over 1000 online. Seems normal for Asura this time of day but I still can't logon.

Had the same issues for the last hour, in Norway though so that does seem to nix the idea that it's related to any particular NA ISP.

The internet is a series of tubes, and SE's are clogged. I tried throttling back my framerate to avoid the timeout message on login and it didn't help. It's just sitting there slowly churning away.

mules keep getting stuck in downloading data while zoning then cant get them back online just stuck in black screen downloading data

So weird. Main character is stuck zoning, nothing but a black screen.

Mule can go anywhere, teles, zones, no problems.

How....?
