So, built new PC and everything is fine... except I get pretty bad screen tearing when I move or turn the camera. It's not distracting. I'd just prefer that it didn't happen lol. Issue seems to be isolated to FFXI, so can live w it if no fixes but just curious if there was any fixes

Already enabled adaptive vsync and no luck.

Eh, no gsync and force enabling vsync actually made it worse.

Are you sure you don't have G-Sync? an Asus 1060 STRIX should have it

right click desktop > NVIDIA Control Panel > Set up G-SYNC > Enable G-SYNC

You can also set it to work in windowed mode as well as full screen mode. I have it set to that and it works just fine.

*** it just going to buy this asus 144hz monitor that I'm hoping will fix it. Was present in GTA5 as well so I'm sure everything would get it to some degree.

If you activate vsync at 60Hz refresh rate then you can run the game in uncapped framerate mode. The video card will then pace the frame rate so it's locked at 60fps for super-smooth motion. It's really amazing.

Idk if its relevant but FFXI is locked at 30 fps.

You can use the Config windower plugin to uncap the framerate

Evidence to support that?

I had no luck w force enabling vsync and running capped at 30fps,60fps and uncapped. I didn't feel like shelling out for a gsync monitor as I literally just built my PC and a 60hz ultrawidescreen... But I was able to swing 250 for a 144hz monitor which made the tearing negligible.

I will note that after correct configuration, FFXI was the only game w the tearing so, likely just due to it running at 29.4, and 58.8fps when set to 30 and 60 fps respectively.

I know a fellow who's been running with uncapped-vsync framerate since 2013, and isn't banned yet. Vsync cannot work unless you run in true-fullscreen mode (the mode that crashes when you alt-tab) and your refresh rate must be 60Hz.
