Do you mean "Great" as in large, or as in better than just good? Regardless of which, I doubt this thread will reach either of those criteria.

Honestly I wouldn't be upset if it were true. All I personally really need is a good rifle, shotgun, and pistol locked up in my office.

I could understand a collector being upset though. I'm sure there is some type of "loophole" to consider yourself a "vendor" and get a selling license then have all the guns you want as "inventory".

*shrug*

It's funny the articles on this site are entirely composed of lines from transcripted Futurama episodes

Here's the thing. It could be 100% real with the way Obama operates. It seems like he gets a lot of his ideas from sites like this.

The comments on that, quite obviously fake, article are magical.

Since this isn't really a debate, can we debate about which guns are cooler? Which is ok by Google AFAIK, so long as we don't advertise the sale or attempt/arrange to buy/sale them.

I like this one:

Uberti's reproduction of S&W's Model 3 'Schofield' in .45 Colt, it's a thing of beauty.

I blame the mods for the longevity of this thread. ;_; (And Mags for having such precognitive skills to estimate it.) :p

Oh goody, a debate over gun control. What better way to tiptoe around the fact that the value of human life actually has diminished to almost nothing and is demonstrated by wanton murder and mayhem on a near daily basis yet blamed on guns/video games/internet porn, etc.

OR a debate about guns:

"AK-47s ARE BETTER THAN AR-15 and M16 MLG PRO KAPPA!"

The value of human life has not diminished, it's always been dirt cheap since we developed agriculture. Prior to developing a reliable food source we needed as many humans in the tribe as possible in order to best acquire food and survive. Once we had the food production down we suddenly had a surplus of human manpower and needed to find something to do with it. Eventually someone came up with the idea of using the excess manpower to violently take over the land of the other nearby tribes and thus a good use for surplus human life was found. That was somewhere around 12,000 years ago, depending on location.

So congratulations on finally catching up to the rest of humanity.

Now here is an interesting tidbit for all you pansy "X is evil cause human life is bleh" people. It costs a few hundred bucks to have someone killed in Manila, cheaper in the provinces. That is the price of human life, practically nothing at all.

You raise an interesting point about the monetary value of human life. Though that is simply one metric used, and a single example. It's definitely a spot on example.

Anyways, there are other costs associated with a human life, and there are things that devalue it, such as politicizing and martyring a human life to meet an agenda, or to counter an agenda. Another thing that devalues a human life, is to take for granted everything a person does, has done, or can do (good or bad), and completely ignore these other factors. There is a price to be paid for blood, and it's often at the cost of someone's emotional state, their stability (sometimes financial, emotional, educational, etc.), sometimes for the immediate family and friends, and sometimes a long time grudge by the descendants of the victim.

Humans are capable of a great many things, and many things that are great. Sometimes greatly terrible things. Another example, is that a wrongful death suit can sometimes cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions of dollars. Lethal injection, is also another costly way to take a human life (for the states and countries that still use it)

And while some people are willing to accept what may seem like a trifling amount of money for a human life, it doesn't diminish that there are steeper prices to pay still.

Addendum: The biggest thing I see to diminishing or devaluing human life is the politicizing and martyrdom of the people who are dead. The victims in particular, become political martyrs, since they can no longer speak for themselves, and politicians and religious nuts (or just nuts in general) will try and claim to speak out for them.

That's not the kind of value I mean, really. I would elaborate, but I don't think this is the appropriate thread for that now.
