So for all those attempting Genbu. Here is something that worked for us.

We went the route of SC + MB.

Sch x 2 ( could do with 1 )
Bst x 1 (Bird Pet)
Geo x 2 (can do with 1)
Blm x 1 (Faster with more)
Pld x 1
Smn x 1 (Faster with more)
few other jobs without specific assignments.

Our run we had 11 people.
Silence helps but not necessary.
Pld should be able to tank it with very few cures.
Geos do Focus Malaise Acumen Languor.
Dispel is highly (highly) resisted. including light based.
BST can use bird pet for 100% dispel.
Keeping Shell off genbu is a must.
Schs make gravitation EDIT: "FRAGMENTATION" and everyone bursts with thunder.
SMN can MB, however ours was used to help in debuffing genbu.

Basically it's the same setup as apex party. Debuff mob with geos. Sch makes skillchain. people burst it. only real difference is that bst needs to dispel mob every 9 seconds.

The bird dispel was the key for us. without it we could not make it. timed out every time.

Good luck!

EDIT: Yes I meant Fragmentation :) Attempted Gravitation for Death. Never procc'd.

If I can add something from my personal experience to what you posted is about RUN tank.

RUN makes a huge difference in kill speed thanks to Rayke and Gambit. If you can only have one tank consider having 1 RUN in place of PLD. Genbu sometimes has nasty physical moves and RUN tipically doesn't have the defense of a PLD for physical attacks. If you go this route I suggest to consider stuff that lowers the target's attack (bio, blind etc) and maybe some entrusted wilt/barrier. I also suggest you time Protectra5 with the RUN's embolden to give him even more Defense.

If it can help, Genbu is soloable on SMN with trusts and it's a rather easy fight (during the trust campaign at least).

Gessho tank Genbu extremely well with Haste II, Marchs and Earthen Armor. Soothing Current, Tidal Roar and Shining Ruby are also very useful.
Night Terror overcomes all the macc problems and Protect/Shell/Defense Boost can be dispelled with Pavor Nocturnus/Atomos. Fight takes me 9~11 min with SPs (Genbu has 400k~ HP). Thunderstorm might work better with a strong pet macc build but I haven't tested it.

Think you mean fragmentation which is aero/thunder. Grav is dark/stone. Skillchain is blizzard > water. Also you could bring a RUN and a PLD.

Since NM hp scale up with more people in pt, what's the point to use 2 tanks?

His attacks are pretty slow, especially during Invincible where he'll just spam WSs. A RUN or a NIN would have no problem maintaining shadows and never really taking any damage. If you use Gessho, having Lunar Wyrm Cheer would help him quite a bit.

Unless you are a burt pld pretty sure you'll take about the same dmg from an actual hit give or take some deff adjustments. Genbu does that reduced shield block, parry, evade aura till you proc him and can kill a pld just as easily. Stupid easy to shadow tank if you are on run/nin.

Like most Geas Fete NMs all the God V2s AND escha AAs can be zerg'd down with a good bst using unleash and a decent geo to frat/torpor.

As far as tanks, another option is a decently geared PUP - should be able to handle it easily with zero support. Automaton physical defense and regen is insane, and doesn't need shield blocks.

Though yeah, a RUN can be nice specifically for Gambit/Rayke.

Actually yes, now that I think about it both of the PLDs I had a chance to play with are burt-gifted.

I never died btw, but been in very dangerous situations a couple of times.
And I guess you're right about /NIN, I probably was /BLU sporting cocoon like a pro.
