Well I will certainly turn it back on o.0... Ragnarok.Bepe

ffxi still has a great soundtrack after all these years imo. If you did not listen to the song during the final rhapsodies fight, I highly advise you youtube it, or go help a friend with it. Great fight, great atmosphere, great music.
FFXI has good music for the most part but after 10 years of playing it just gets old.
I understand turning music off for your own music, but if you turn sound effects off you might miss some helpful things, like the sound of a sch's book, a mob agro'ing you, etc

I have mine about 10~15% on both bars. I only turn one or the other up, depending if I am either listening to music or doing something major i.e missions, etc. I use a Steelseries headset, so some of the BGFX tends to have a bit of a boom lol Sylph.Namonaki said: » I am genuinely shocked. Everyone I have come across typically remark about horrible music and it being off. And judging from the number of threads about FFXI music I'd say it's pretty much liked by critics and players alike. Of course hearing the same exact music the 20000th time can make it boring even if it's an awesome track, but saying that is quite different from saying "FFXI music sucks". And also, more emphasis, "sound off" is different from "music off". I went through some of the sound files and found the cicadas. If you delete them, it won't play the sounds, though it's likely that the game will redownload them again if there's an update.

YouTube Video Placeholder After so many years, and while I love the whole OST (even the ones posted above), I only turn on the music when there is a new fight, when I go through Zi'Tah or when I go through a new area. I mean, just imagine going to a club with "Living on a prayer" looping the whole 6 hours that you spend in the club. "But dude, those are legendary great musics, why wouldn't you listen to them on repeat 24/7?". As previously stated, "Sound off" =/= "Music off".
And I see only one reason in your post, not "a few", which by chance is exactely the same reason I already exposed a few posts above yours. One thing I like to do when I am going on an extended EXP session in Reisenjima is to turn down the music on FFXI, and open up YouTube and play this. This actually fits VERY well with the forest setting of Reisenjima for some reason.

Mildly related and so it reminded me of this. This is a screenshot of a screenshot, and I had almost given up on finding it again, but I think I said it best when I said:
This removes the audio cue when you tab around and highlight targets and I don't know about you, but I use Tab Key a lot to target stuff. You're welcome. YouTube Video Placeholder As for music, I've been swapping in/out various Fire Emblem If / Fates tracks (currently it's this). Probably just going to leave it to something simpler though. FINAL FANTASY XI\sound\win\music\data\music079.bgw for that. |
