Dell Optiplex 780
My primary FFXI client & day-to-day usage computer.
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93GHz - Wolfdale 45nm Technology
4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 531MHz
HP 2210 (1920x1080@59Hz) - 256MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro (Dell)
Authentic SONY PS2 gamepad conncected via a Kiky / Soyo PSX to USB adapter

It's not the newest or fastest unit on the market, but for FFXI and surfing the web, it works great. For the $175 I paid for it, I'm not going to complain. This machine plays Viva Nonno, M.A.M.E., ePSXe, & Magic Engine, amazingly well. Note the external DVD-ROM drive, visible just below the keyboard. That drive is set to DVD zone #2, so it can playback all my import anime. If I want to play zone #1 DVD's I uses the computer's internal DVD drive. My FFXI Digipass is hanging off of the LED light that I bought at Ikea.

You see my Dell Latitude D830 laptop. I use it to access either of the two wikis when I'm playing the game in fullscreen mode. At the time I took these pictures, I think the camera was set incorrectly. Out the window you should have been able to see the Seaford Oyster-Bay Expressway.

If you're going to be using an ancient computer, you should at least max out the ram in that, it can take 16GB, and hopefully there's at least a dedicated card in the thing.

I threw a stack of those out to be recycled the other week, and more are on the way. (Also just reimaged one, as it wasn't quite ready to go yet).

I loathe Dells.

I don't really know what is to say about that, it looks tidy? You only paid $175 for it and if it does what you need it to do fair enough.

All I'll say is I recently spent in excess of £1000 on my custom build.
