Playonline Suddenly Very Slow

Was the dongle a completely different provider of internet services?
If so I think we can 99,9% exclude issues related to ISPs, and it's gotta be more something about your PC.

Still, being a specific issue (i.e. that affects only a very specific part of the internet, not all network communications) I doubt it can be something general related to your PC settings.


The closest thing I can think of that could produce selective results like the ones you're experiencing is a strange settings in Firewalling software.
Do you have a firewall installed? (Windows Firewall? Others?)
Do you have other similar software that control or simply monitor network data?
Do you have some Internet Security suite/software? Some antiviruses have some similar built-in functions.

Can you think of anything fitting the description?
Because other than that I'm clueless as to how helping you any further...

It was the same ISP only a newer model dongle.

Yeah, I just don't get that I can play on my phones internet and on wifi without any problem. It's just when I plug in a dongle that it doesn't work.

I run Avira and the windows firewall. Have tried to shut them both down at the same time, still doesn't work.

I don't know if I have any software that that does that. At least I have never installed it on my own.

Only other tests I can think of are:

1) temporarily shut down Windows Firewall and Avira AND keep QoS down
2) try the new dongle with QoS down
3) Try Wi-Fi connection somewhere where they have unfirewalled connection? (dunno, a friends' place? Even an Ethernet connection would be fine for this test)
4) Try a different ISP dongle

Tried the OpenDNS site, seems like it's a little faster. Still incredibly laggy tho.

1) Tried, no difference. Even removed avira completly and disabled windows firewall.

2) Can't the dongle is at the store.

3) As I said playing ffxi through Wi-Fi works flawless. Have been playing at work. When I've finnished for the day of course! It's just when I connect through a dongle that I experience problems. Internet from phone trough usb to my computer works with no problem too.

4) Will have to see if I can get find one to try.

So this is very weird.

I logged on and started playing on my phones internet. USB from phone to my laptop. All works fine.

Decided to plug in my dongle at the same time as my phone. Everything becomes super laggy until I remove the dongle. I don't get disconnected though.
Still just ffxi that has a problem with the dongle.

Problem still hasn't solved itself.
Can't play with my usb-dongle plugged in, if I remove it and go to a different internet connection it works flawless though!
