Monster Rearing

I'm currently trying to evolve my Slime pet into a Hecteyes, but apparently the evolution food listed on both BG and FFXIclopedia is incorrect. Both guides (probably sourced from one another) have Chimera Blood listed, but all my slime did was "stare off into the distance". Anyone know the actual evolution food before I go trying everything?

Is the slime still a baby, or has it grown? Also, how many stars (growth level) does it have? To grow into a Hecteyes, I think it needs 2.5 stars as an adult Slime.

It's the adult slime, got the memento yesterday. It's at 1.5 stars, which I thought was when you fed all evolution foods. Should I just keep letting him grow? I just don't want to miss the window, been working on this thing for almost a month now...

There's no window to miss when going from stage 2 to 3, it's just that it has to be at a certain point in growth first. Keep letting him grow, and I think once it's at 2 or 2.5 (this seems to vary by species) it should start squirming.
