How Long Did It Take You To Get Dring

I want to hear how long it took you to get Dring and your story to getting it.

For me i used about 10-12 of my own before i started counting again but when i started counting again it was 1/37 but my linkshell has started to take lately the fact i was not getting it personally so they used there pops to get it for me but god dam 37 trys holy crap 37-74mil down to drain that is crazy.

i got my dring last night thought so what is your story.

I went 1/5. All shanks were from login campaigns. I'm afraid to even start trying on my alt because I'm sure it will be 1/50 to even things out x.x.

When I got mine I was at least 70+ tries on it at 7/8 mil a shank back then, then a great Ls friend of mine popped one of his shanks for me an gave me the ring, owe you big time faust miss you bud.

I have used 31 shanks in the last month and a half, not counting older attempts I lost count of, and still have yet to get one.

Jezzzi and myself went back to back the other night...
So i want to say we are about 2/12? maybe less.

I've been trying since the first login campaign, add in a few bought savories and shanks gained from Horns of War. 3 characters worth of login campaigns.

Still no D ring.

On Feb. 17th,2012 I'm sure it was the 1st week shanks where
out, I popped the 1st 1 got and the ring dropped. For whatever reason
I sold it to my good friend Blittz , who keep in mind in 2012 already had Ryo and Burtgang. I fill i got a good return as he built me an Ochain , got me a R Goldpiece to finish my Ragnarok and 5 Marrows. I made over 800M in the group i was in farming ADL over the next 18 months. so I fill I was well reimbursed.
Around early 2014 I got serious about PLD finished my Aegis to 99,
and thought hell I'll get me a Dring should be easy enough. Let me
tell you Karma really bit me hard.

Finally making this long story short on June 3rd I popped my 123rd
Shank, i had tried EVERYTHING. finally i said FK it and went out on PLD/DNC with Rat/Goobue Trust and damn if it didn't finally drop lol

Ehh... Capping with Shadow Mantle though? Not every job has that option, and even if they do a lot of them have utility options (RUN AF3 body for instance) that still give it value. It's also a clear winner for the second ring slot alongside Shadow Ring; you can pack other slots with MDB/INT as you see fit but those two items and an Engulfer +1 are hard to replace.

BLU can't cap PDT without Dring for instance (again, with Shadow Mantle), and even with it I can't swap my Dark Ring for a warden's ring without dropping to 49% PDT.

I sold more Savories than I ever popped, because at the time I needed gil for something or another. Login campaigns made shanks cheap, though, so I started popping the HQ so my rune fencer would have a liiiiittle but more -DT%.

I was helping on NQ Behemoth with TH, and we got HQ and popped. Bam, D Ring, to that LS's career paladin who'd been trying for one forever. Yay, right?

The next morning, I went out to the Dominion helping Murisia pop the twelve HQ pops from mules' login points. Was the second or third pop- bam, D Ring for Murisia. We'd had an agreement that once Muri got Defending, all other pops went toward me.

Two or so pops later- bam, Defending Ring for Seeks, which probably used up all my FFXI luck until the end of time.

Also, this:

I'm curious about swift belts. No real monetary consequences, but not insignificant time requirements to get a group to do it.

That's probably dating me just a bit though.

Finally got mine 5 minutes ago! That's 1/131!

Maybe now I can work on mythics...or augmenting something with the money I will no longer spend on shanks.

It took me between 3 and 4 KBs for them to begin dropping. 3rd one dropped a ring for the main PLD of the LS, 4th one did too, mine. All in all, I started in December, it dropped in April. We barely claimed any KB before March.

We got 3 back to back and I got one claiming alone after that that I donated to my ex HNMLS, so that's 4 back to back.



Back in the days, Defending Ring was sold by several players for 100M. It seemed a huge price back then but when they released shanks, it made perfect sense and people started to wish they could have simply spent 100M and be done with it. The funny thing is, when these people lowered the price to 70/75M, people would still not buy.

I didn't keep track, it was too demotivating. Purchased my shanks almost exclusively from one JP player, who likely had 15 mules plus a second account. Gave him so much gil he began to feel bad, and he'd save his savories for me to give me discounts and help me TH proc my NQ Behemoths.

Finally got my ring off one of his shanks. No regrets.

For now 0/68 pop, i have 12 pop to do but ...

took me over 150 forced pops and around 50/60 back before it was a forced pop..

I took probably 2-3 login campaign, that with all the 1$ mule banking me beastly shanks (i had 16 in my main account aside others chars). I think i stopped counting after my 40th try.

Worse part was the routine to pop those shanks. The best was poping as soon as you could get a beastly shank because in the end there was always waiting lines, and some players were so shitty (like kingnobody) that used to fight king behemoth as thf single wielding thfs knife, and just wearing raiders pullaine and assassins armlets... No ws ofc (btw, RIP KN).

Unrelated but i was thinking, supose you sell drings. Selling a dring isnt actual selling but a contract, you pop a shank and sell it if the ring drops. But, supose one side of the party break the terms. Can the other player call a Gm to intercede? Would the gm confiscate the dring or there is nothing he can do if soneone cheats like not paying and having the ring, or not giving the ring after paying, etc?
