What is YOUR worst zone to run through on foot?

I was running my alt character with my girlfriend through Jugner (S) to get to Sandy (S) for our first time there. I hadn't done that run since WoTG came out. I raged so hard at that map it got me wondering what everyone elses most hated zone was.
100 years ago, I *** hated Konschtat. The Ram...
Then the Kazham Jungles... worthless damned maps. Ranguemant Pass........ True story I almost quit the first time I tried to get through that damn zone for the limit break solo. Then I learned what clipping was and all my hatred for running around faded away~ Something about Xarcabard always played with my sense of direction. Always pulling up the map, otherwise I start drifting off-course from where I want to be.
For getting lost, Yhoater/Yutuhnga Jungle and Yorcia Wield are tied.
On a semi-related note. What zone do you think is the largest. Multi-floor maps line Nyzul Isle don't count. I'm thinking Ru'Aun Gardens. Jungles, Yorcia and Beaucedine (especially before all the warps and all you had was OP warp and needed to go to Fei'Yin).

Is there still a map I hate traversing today? Outer Ra'kaznar is a pain... As to what zone is the biggest maybe Cirdas Caverns? Sky, because it takes sooooo long to run anywhere
Though its not so bad due to ilv, but The Garden of Ru'Hmet together with Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi were one of the worst place i walked in this game. Not just for the horrible map, but mainly because of all mobs being true sound.
I remember back when i tried farming the map of Hu'Xzoi and walked a one-way place. It was near the end but if i wanted to get back the last 3 npcs i would need to restart everything. I just said f... It. good thing i never again had to go back there again aside mules progress. Oh christ, I forgot about the sand bats, why I never bought silent oils I'll never know, probably because no one else ever did!
Attohwa Chasm - worst zone EVER!!!
Windurst, *** Taru's and their trees.
Not so bad now with the HP warps, but still. That city is way too big. Attowha Chasm is up there with all the miasma and stuff. I was never fond of running around any of the ToAU zones beyond Wajaom and Bhaflau either. Bahamut.Striker

yorcia on release with no bivacs, that map was worthless and the reives oh god.
after that? prolly outer rakaznar on release Jungles and Yorcia are tied, reasons given by others.
Xarcabard for the random 2 inch piles of snow I cannot scale. Sky, because of the dumb gates. Forgot to mention Eldieme.
Gave me nightmares the first few times I had to search the entire place for that one coffer. Blah, bad memories... Bahamut.Mustybadger

From an absolute boredom perspective, nothing beats Meriphataud Mountains for me. Absolutely nothing interesting to look at, the map is big and the paths are pretty much pre-set.
From a confusion perspective, 12 years later and I still have to use a map to navigate the Jungles... The Boyahda Tree without W.legs every damn 1st window ;(
Was definetely the jungles, though in 10 years you eventually learn the routes more or less(not so much Yhoator <_<). In Yorcia I have no idea where to go, and in Arrapago too.

Trying to get an inexperienced party of six to kazham, then to the yhoator camp was the worst thing ever. There would always be the one person who would miss the boat and then 20 minutes later get lost in yuhtunga, then drop.

How do you not have Arrapago down by now!? :p I might be the only person who never had a problem with Yhoator back in the day. Yhutunga gave me more problems than Yhoator, but neither was really all that bad for me. Ifrit's Cauldron, however, I still hate. It's not hard to navigate per se, but I just never got the rhythm of the various drop points. Any zone with no music.
Beaucedine Glacier!
JFC what a chore over the years. Valefor.Sehachan said: » Was definetely the jungles, though in 10 years you eventually learn the routes more or less(not so much Yhoator <_<). In Yorcia I have no idea where to go, and in Arrapago too. I have Arrapago Reef pretty much memorized due to farming Zeni over the course of 2 mythics, but it's still an annoying zone (albeit cool one). Yeah, the jungles rate fairly high up there. I was going to say my worst time was running on foot from Windurst to Jeuno for the first time (I mean the first time) as a newbie. No gil to buy silent oils or prism powders. It was simply just a very fearful experience. But honestly, it was being left stranded in a Yhoater exp party without a warp scroll. Everyone brought theirs but me (fail). So, not only was I lost but I was also without silent oils and prism powders. After about an hour later trying to make my way back to Kazham on foot, it came down to running up behind a Goblin Smithy who was blocking the path. I had a 50/50 chance on which direction he was going to turn to go back. I picked correctly and survived. Zoning into Kazham never felt more satisfying. Basically, I hate any zone where the place you're trying to reach is right there in front of you, but you have to traverse most of the zone just to get there. Attohwa Chasm, Beaucedine Glacier and Ifrit's Cauldron are probably the top three.
You never really needed to traverse Arrapago too much, the zone was criminally underused for how expansive it was.
Chasm had the Hagun/Blau Dolch ENM attached. Cauldron had some NMs, mining points and coffers. Glacier had Dynamis/Fei'Yin/Xarcabard access. Garbage Citadel, Crawlers Nest and The Eldieme Shitcropolis were all pretty annoying thanks to doors and being generally mazelike. I'd definitely cosign on Necropolis being one of those zones where you eject a sigh having to go there. Now which entrance was it again?? *sigh* |
